Hello loves. It has has been a super rough three months with my Mum’s cancer diagnosis and treatments. Now that we are through the first round, there is still a lot to work through as a family - and on my own. While I managed to write a few posts, I just couldn’t find my muse for Luna - and worse yet, I had no idea what to do for Dahlia. If I’m honest with myself, I’m emotionally burnt out in a way that I’ve never experienced before. Because writing for me is very connected to my heart, I feel super blocked. As a result, I’m going to pull back and take a break to pull myself together.

Luckily the admins are allowing me to turn Luna’s history as it has played out over the last four years into an OC, allowing me to keep her name and FC so that in the future I can come back and finish writing her story. I hope that in the next two months I’ll have the energy to return. For now, it felt unfair to ask for another hiatus given that I’ve been inactive since the middle of May.

In my writing life, I’ve only been apart of another roleplay that lasted this long - and in that case, I was writing with one other person. This group has an extremely dedicated group of users, and the most amazing administrators. It pushed my creative boundaries, exposed me to new ways of thinking about character development, and gave me an incredible outlet. You will all remain near and dear to me. I sincerely hope to come back when I’m ready. I have no doubt that all of you will be here. <333

Quint pulled away when the other seemed startled, Quint immedietly putting his hands up to show he meant no harm as his brows raised. “Woah! Sorry darlin, didnt mean to spook ya.” He replied honestly with a shy smile.

His accent comes as a surprise. Looking at him, she doesn’t expect it. When he pulls back she holds her position for a three-count, quick to assess whether he is bluffing or not. The way he holds his arms and legs is what brings her to drop her stance, though her left hand remains a tight fist at her side. “Sorry,” she apologized, eyes looking over his shoulder. “Bad habit.” She was jumpy even at the idea of being surprised, though the brutal blows she had taken in the area had been no sneak attack.

“You sure?” He asked and smiled, handing it to her “It’s not exactly thirst quenching.” Though it would buck her up a little, he always liked a coffee in the morning to get him through the day. “You okay? Want to talk? You know I’m always here.”

Gratefully, Luna took the cup with two hands and lifted it to her nose. Something about the scent of black coffee was soothing in that moment. She had downed water all throughout her physio, but this felt like a true reward. While it was hot, she wanted something comforting. “I’m not sure that there’s much to talk about,” she admitted. Nothing was weighing on her mind at that moment except her own pain and desire to feel well and able bodied again. “I’m physically broken and mentally numb. Not much of a chatty-cathy.”

     “Still, pretty gross don’t ya think?” Fiamma took a step closer, smiling and raising a brow. She knew that Luna didn’t like or trust her. That was smart. Luna knew exactly what Fiamma was capable of.  Perhaps she was only one of the only living slaves that knew exactly what she was like.  “Scared to look at me, Luna?”

It was impossible to forget Fiamma. In her three years as a slave only two mistresses had ever compelled her to have sex with them, and enjoy it. Luna bit on the inside of her cheek, keeping her gaze pointed away. “Sure,” she replied stiffly. Her fingers twitched idly, her thumb pressing to connect with her index finger and then her pinky.

      “Well, well. Look at what we have here,” Fiamma hummed in a taunting tone. She walked closer, smiling as she finally came to a stop in front of Luna’s cell. “Playing with rats now, are you?”

The sound of Fiamma’s voice sent a chill down her spine. She couldn’t mask the shiver that tore through her, and she turned sharply to catch sight of the woman, her eyes landing to glance just beyond her shoulder. Never look this one in the eyes. “Found it like that,” she replied bluntly, her voice rough and gritty.

Quint was walking past the woman to go get food when his eyes followed her line of sight. he grimaced at the dead animal, gently grabbing the woman’s shoulder. “Come on…no need to ruin ya appetite with that display, hm?” He stated, offering her a gentle smile.

She didn’t know him. Had never heard his voice. When his hand swept across her shoulder she recoiled, twisting her body out and away from his fingers while inhaling with surprise. Her hands leapt up defensively, coiled in fists, her jaw set and lips unsure.

Effy pouted playfully as she watched her companion slip out of the ring, it would appear he was done for the day. Still she felt good, her muscles ached and surprisingly she felt more relaxed than she had in some time. Working out was good for releasing the tension, and probably healthier than the shopping or sex or excessive feeding that she had been doing previously. 

She stepped out of the cell, knowing there were others who were hoping to get their chance in the ring. The first thing she did was grab her water and take a large drink, the liquid refreshing as it washed through her system. Grabbing a hand towel she used it to wipe the sweat off her face, pushing her wet hair back as she turned her attention to her surroundings. Spotting a familiar face she sauntered over, a smile on her lips as she leaned against a nearby pillar. “Long time no see Luna.” 

Luna watched as Effy moved to claim a drink and wipe her face down. The sheen on the mistress’ flawless skin highlighted her elegant features. Luna’s own face was blotchy and red with the effort of working out, adding an unsightly combination of colours to her bruises. She nodded in response to the woman’s words, unsure of what to say. The words were jumbled in her mind, caught up with stray thoughts. 

“I was claimed for a bit,” she finally muttered, the end result obvious. She was free of the vampire’s bracelet.

“Luna, you look a little warn out, I’m not going to offer you alcohol, but I have soda upstairs if you want it.” he replied with a small smile. He wasn’t sure what she had been through, but as a fighter he could tell she was sluggish, hurt. 

“That coffee in your hand is perfect,” she replied, trying to reach for the paper cup he had dangled in front of her. She knew this was no time for whisky or brandy. Had she still been in the care of her previous masters, it would have been her go to. The numbness that came with alcohol was tempting to seek out. For now, however, she would settle for the warming boost of caffeine.

My muse has been completely MIA. Between severe allergies (yay ragweed...) and just a general sense of being low energy, I haven't been able to get to replies. Hopefully I can jump onto those who posted pre-event after it ends and to come up with something for Dahlia. I'm at a bit of a loss as to where my mind is at so bear with me. Doing what I can. Luna stood still, brow furrowed as she concentrated on the sight before her. A sewer rat had been wrung up by its tail, its neck snapped awkwardly to the side. Its little paws were spread, toes grasping for air as if it was still struggling to hold onto something. As it swayed in the breeze, she shivered, wincing at her shoulder ached with the motion.

Effy hadn’t been in a ring in a lot time, or rather she hadn’t really bothered with the gym in a long time. However she had been unable to help herself today, in need of way to release all her pent up emotions and energy that had been running rampant in her system. She had far too much on her mind lately and this was one hell of way to forget about it. The ache of her muscles felt good as she went a couple rounds against people. And as she swiped her current opponents legs out from under them she couldn’t help but grin, looking down at them. “Want to go again?”

Hearing that one of the training rings was occupied, Luna couldn’t help but look over. Over the last few months, that space had been more of a home than her cell. To not even be able to step over the ropes without wincing was painful. She had been in this position before, when she had been Felix’s slave and she had been able to train every day - the limitation coming when he had attacked her on a full moon. This time felt different, however, because the recovery period felt more daunting. She had come back from life threatening injuries many times, but this time she felt tired. It was the sort of weight that she carried deep in her bones. Stripped of a purpose yet again, she felt lost.

Watching Effy take out her opponent, she watched them scramble out. The mistress remained a woman that Luna respected, and she gaze her an envious gaze from where she sat on a bench against the wall. Resting after mild cardio, she remained a battered mess. Checking her watch, the face cracked and the numbers under it barely visible, she sighed. She had to leave to return herself to the chateau soon. Her physio time was up.

She has found a somewhat secluded spot, some place hidden for those that pass by busily, with their mind on something other than a possible onlooker. If looked twice of course, they’d spot her with a book in hand, seemingly paying no attention to her surroundings. It’s not that she gawks, not at all. Anaïs observes, trying to make sense of the social structure of the city, Covaire and it’s structure so unlike anything she has come across before hand. A sigh rolls of her lips as she flips the page of her book, notes both to the translation work she has done of the old Latin texts and the oddities of the city. ‘ What a strange place this is. ’ she hums aloud to no one in peculiar.

Exiting Temple Fitness, Luna hobbled onto the sidewalk with a slight limp. Her right knee was particularly sore, mild physio having pushed the injured slave to her limits. She slowed, surveying the sidewalk for signs that the Chateau had sent someone to collect her, but seeing no one, she allowed herself a moment to lean into the side of the building to flex her foot and catch her breath. Given that her former master had left money aside for her rehabilitation, perhaps it wasn’t all that surprising that she was left to her own devices to return herself. But given her condition, she worried about her capacity to get there. 

Standing still and contemplating gave her the time to look around again, her eyes falling across the faces of half a dozen passersby before she saw the woman on the bench, a book open on her lap. She stares for more than a second, not recognizing her. Glancing away, she pushes her hair back, pausing halfway when her bicep is too sore to manage lifting her arm fully.

Mia & Open - People Watching

More than a week and a half after the last full moon and her time in the hospital, Mia was finally feeling better. There were still a few bruises and soreness healing up, but physically she was feeling better. Mentally and emotionally, she still had a long road ahead of her, but finally getting to meet some of the city’s other occupants had helped. Isolation from pretty much anyone but Sarge had played a bigger part on her mental well-being than she’d realized.

This time, with a smile on her face, Mia was sitting on one of the benches outside during her free time and enjoying the weather. While she would still be cautious of the masters, mistresses, and guards, she would also not show worry or fear around them. If they wanted to rent her, then so be it. She’d have to eventually get it over with. Might as well take the bull by the horns, so to speak. Smiling at people as they passed by, though it didn’t fully reach her eyes just yet, Mia was also people watching and coming up with fictional backstories in her head about each of them.

Laying on her back in the burnt remnants of what had been grass earlier on in the summer, Luna dozed with her eyes closed. Her body ached. Sitting was hard. Standing was difficult. Walking was a struggle. Her left eye could finally open, the swelling from the blows she had taken to her face ebbing just enough. All around it, however, remained a mottled mess of blue, green, yellow and red, the white of her eye dotted with broken blood vessels. Her lower lip was still swollen from where it had split, but it no longer tore open when she spoke. Her arms were as much a canvas of bruises as her face. She remained in the black t-shirt and spandex shorts she had been returned in, allowing everything to remain visible. 

Laying there, she half wondered if she had slipped up in the fighting pits in order to let herself be killed. Her reflection was broken when she heard the footsteps of another. Opening her eyes, she turned her head a fraction, her neck protesting all the while. Catching sight of a girl she didn’t recognize, she exhaled deeply, letting her eyes fall over her before looking back up at the sky. Young.

“Oddly , that wouldn’t surprise me.” Adriana mused back. “At-least was decent enough to conceal it well so that I couldn’t taste it”

“That brings you comfort?” she asked with a smirk, eyebrows knitted with surprise. Spit was spit. Whether it was tasteless or rank, it was still someone else’s saliva - not that she wanted to deprive a newcomer a decent tasting meal either. It wasn’t out of spite or jealousy that she had pointed out the guard’s actions but honesty.

“Do you need a rest? You know I don’t like people pushing themselves too hard.” He said and smiled. “Especially when you look a little red. Would you prefer water?”

“Rest and caffeine, sure,” Luna replied. She felt finished with the circuit of exercises for now, her legs and arms protesting as she moved to sit. What used to be so easy now felt impossible, her entire body still a canvas of deep bruises. She was lucky the other fighter she had faced hadn’t broken more bones, but the soft tissue swelling and lingering effects of a concussion were hard to combat. With it came spells of fatigue, and with it frustration. She saw herself in the mirrors on the gym wall, cherry faced and puffy. “I’ll have all the water I want in my cell. I’ll take the luxuries while I can.”
