Grape Earrings at Yuhan Wang’s MA Central Saint Martins graduate collection
knowing how it tends to go with male authors and their wives it was probably marge who wrote the odyssey
Hunter and prey, markers on paper.
Two job-hunting resources that changed my life:
This cover letter post on askamanger.com. A job interview guide written by Alison Green, who runs askamanager.
useful
Alison Green’s advice works.
Alison Green got me all my interviews from 2012 onward, I am reasonably sure.
Alison Green is basically my life guide.
Mine too - she was my most visited website for the first few years of my working career, and I cannot emphasise enough how much her advice helped me navigate how to behave in a work environment. You name it, she has an answer for it. Definitely a life hack.
I used her advice and on my current job I got a callback with an offer literally five minutes after we finished the interview.
Actually, I shouldn’t skip the most important bit: I fucked the interview up. I was interviewing at a couple public defender’s offices in the area I wanted to move, and the others were by Zoom first then in person.
I assumed this one was by Zoom. Then I was in court when my Apple watch said “hey bitch you better start driving” and I realized to my dawning horror that it was in-person.
I immediately texted and emailed the head of that office, even though what I wanted to do was crawl into the tunnel under the courthouse and die. Something along the lines of “Hi! This is completely my bad. I assumed x and the interview is y. I’m stuck in court and y is not possible today. Can we move the interview to Zoom? Alternatively, I am available to come down tomorrow or Monday.”
Within 20 minutes, she got back to me and said that this was the tail end of interviews, she knows how court is, can’t wait until Monday, here’s a Zoom link.
I did the Zoom interview and as I was leaving the office right after (to crawl into the tunnel under the courthouse and die) I got a call saying I was hired.
Fuck-ups are NOT the end of the world. She says it in that interview guide, not in those words exactly. If you can handle a fuck-up with quick remedial action, perhaps while dead in a tunnel under a courthouse, and be graceful and flexible, it shows how you act under pressure. It shows courtesy and problem-solving skills.
My message included the following important elements:
1 - I took responsibility.
2 - I demonstrated priorities commensurate with the job. (Court appearance for client very important!!)
3 - I offered two alternative options for achieving the goal (Have Interview) while respecting her priorities (timeline vs. in-person).
4 - I said thank you.
(I really encourage you not to ChatGPT this shit because the ability to do this verbally and in the moment is an extremely good professional skill and requires a bit of practice.)
Unfortunately, my sister Ronza will die—this is what awaits her if help does not arrive today. I am writing now to stop this sentence from becoming our reality tonight, while she is still breathing.
I hold Ronza close, counting her breaths, bargaining with time. Donations are low; seconds matter. Please stop, share, and donate now—your kindness can rewrite tomorrow and keep my sister alive today, please, now.
GoFundMe – Vetted #213
Silence is killing Ronza faster than wounds. Every ignored post steals minutes from her life. I beg you, pause here—donate, share, and choose mercy before this silence becomes permanent for her.
Every ignored second is a verdict. Ronza is breathing now, not later. Please stop scrolling, break the silence, donate today, and choose life before this post becomes an obituary for my little sister.
I am begging before dawn breaks. Ronza is alive right now, not a memory. Please don’t let indifference finish what war began—pause, share, donate, and give my sister another chance to breathe today.

"I want to say to everyone who has mercy in his heart, take action for Farah. What are you waiting for? She is an innocent child who does not speak, but her tears are more honest than all words."
This is what Wesal, Farah's mother, told me to tell you all about her fifteen-year-old daughter Farah, a fifteen-year-old autistic girl with chronic kidney failure.
Her kidneys leak potassium, for which she hasn't been properly medicated for over a year. Farah needs to take two pils 3x/day, but because her parents cannot afford to buy more, her mother can only give her one per day now.
The longer this goes on, the worse Farah's health will get, until her heart gives out. Cardiac arrest is a very possible and extremely serious complication of severe potassium deficiency, which is what Farah is suffering from now.
So you can understand how scared Wesal is that she will lose her daughter.
Farah needs our help!
Please, if you are able, even if it's just a little, donate to the fundraiser I created for Farah here or via Paypal here. We have only raised €15 and €96 respectively, which is only half of what is needed to buy a month's worth of medication for Farah.
For verification, please see here. They are vetted by association, as is explained in the link. We are working on getting them vetted by gazavetters, but as you probably all know, this takes time.
[EDIT/ Fantastic news, this campaign is now verified by gazavetters! You will find it as #451 on their spreadsheet. Thank you so much!!!]
Thank you so much for donating if you are able, and/or for sharing this post!
Note: if you would prefer to pay via paypal, you can do so here.
Go to paypal.me/forfarah and type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries.
tagging for reach, please share, thank you <3 (let me know if you don't want me to tag you anymore, apologies for any multiple tags)
Hello everyone,
Unfortunately, I feel a great sense of disappointment because no one has donated yet for this urgent appeal. I beg you, please save my children — they have the right to live in warmth.
If you ask me which is harder—hunger or cold—I would say both, but cold is more deadly to the body. It affects the entire body with illnesses that may lead to death.
👉To the living consciences and humane hearts🙏
Save what remains of us after the war of extermination. Save my children—they are everything I have. I do not want to see them harmed or fall ill.
We urgently need $1,250 to purchase the following:
A large tent to shelter us from the cold and rain
Warm clothing for my three children
Heavy blankets to keep my children warm from the cold and frost
Hot drinks and healthy food so my children can regain their physical health
🙏 Dear reader, please donate if you can, and always keep my children in your thoughts.
please help us
Donation link here
Or share this post. Do not ignore us—we are human beings and deserve to live.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to protect us from the cold, frost, and rain.👇👇😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
