… what does one get a robot for white day? aigis can't eat or drink anything, so the obvious route of just picking up something from the nearest bakery isn't going to cut it. the next thing sakuya thought of, a pair of matching headphones and an mp3 player, felt a little too expensive considering the other girls were just getting sweets… the same goes for jewelry.
he's about to give up and apologize to aigis with a promise to make it up to her when he passes by rafflesia in his panic and the shock of bright red flowers catches his eye… and it's a bouquet of those very flowers, tied with a white ribbon, that he approaches aigis with now.
"i wasn't sure what you might like," he admits when he holds the precious flowers ( amaryllis, he thinks the lady called them ) out to his friend, "but i saw these and thought of your ribbon, so… well. thanks for everything, aigis. happy white day."
Most of today's festive celebrations were spent quietly observing the various reactions and acceptances made by several other students lounging in Gekkoukan's halls. Sweets were never rejected, nor were other items catered towards the designated individual's interest. Some, on the other hand, left empty-handed, or worse in other cases. Confessions met with failure meant walking home alone or without anyone beside them to hold their hand.
It would be nice to leave with someone holding her hand. But wasn't it considered to be a highly scandalous act in teenager language? Perhaps another time...
Not many of her fellow classmates bothered offering her any of these White Day treats. It didn't bother her much. Food wasn't a necessary supplement to maintain her body, but the smell of sweet aromas and freshly-made baked goods still sounded pleasant. She could appreciate its appearance and craftsmanship, as well. Just...not the taste, unfortunately. Her strides carried the maiden outside the school gates where several other students loitered around, some carrying their gifts and others being provided comfort for their failed attempts.
She stopped short, however, before turning the street corner. Familiar blue locks of kempt hair greeted the maiden, along with a dazzling display of vibrant red flowers in his hand. A gift for herself? From Sakuya, of all people? "...oh...you...thought of me..." He was in her mind quite often, but to have the feeling reciprocated, even for something simple as an appreciative gesture, made her core increase in its energy output.
It was that 'warm sensation' one feels in their chest when someone important in their life regarded them in the same manner.
"They are...quite lovely." Aigis accepted the gift, cradling the delicate bundle in her arms while admiring the deep crimson hues. "And they are the exact color code as the ribbon, too." She laughed softly, with a small smile gracing her content expression. "Thank you...for everything as well. I am to assume these will need a proper vase, and plenty of water once we return to the dorm." Proper flora care was needed if Aigis wished to display this gift for as long as the plants bloomed. Eventually the petals will wither away, crumbling into unrecognizable dust in the wind, but that had yet to happen. They could use this chance, and this time, to truly relish their beauty and bloom.
"Will you accompany me, then?" Maybe that chance to hold someone's hand would happen sooner than Aigis expected.
