“Okay dad I’m going out to walk the forest!” You said as you stepped out from the door, the cold wind hitting your bare legs. For some reason a mini dress and fish nets seemed like a weather appropriate outfit. In another room, Jasper raised a finger about to oppose to you leaving when he remembered that you couldn’t hear him (he often forgot that you weren’t a vampire.) and decided to just let you be.
Alice and Jasper were never the type to stop you from doing what you wanted, they believed that the only way for a child to learn was if they went out and actually did it. So they simply advised you not to do certain things. Which in your case always felt like a lecture.
After one of Alices recent visions, Jasper had been on edge. Usually they never involved you but this time it did. You had spent the whole day in the forest, which was odd because you typically preferred to be indoors. Jasper and Alice had been in the kitchen cooking for you (their human child) when Alice suddenly stopped what she was doing and gasped. Her face was beaming with excitement when she said, “Seth imprinted on (Y/N).”
The news never settled well with Jasper. It wasn’t because he didn’t like the wolves, in fact he didn’t mind them at all. It was more of the fact that the wolves didn’t like his kind, much less the Cullens. Though you were still human, Jasper knew that you spent most of your time by the treaty line. He feared that you would be attacked because you smelled like a “cold one”.
Finally you had set out to the forest, without the interruption of your parents. Today was a big day for you, not only did you want to go to the treaty line (per usual). You were determined to cross it. You wanted to see what was so forbidden by your family across that river. You knew that it lead to La Push, a town you had never been allowed to go to.
So with out a second thought you launched yourself into the river. A piercing cold sensation swarmed your body as you dived in. It was a terrifying yet thrilling experience for you. Swimming across the river was a lot harder than you thought it would be. You weren’t sure if it was because the currents were a lot rougher today or if you were simply lacking swimming skills. Luckily with one last long stride of your arms, you made it across the river and on to the other side of the treaty line.
You laid on the cold dirt, struggling to catch your breath. Instantly begging to regret crossing the river. Your dress was soaking wet and your favorite pair of shoes were now ruined. Not to mention the cold weather only made it worse. But there was a whole new territory of land for you discover and there was no time for quitting. So you pushed yourself up and rung out the water from your hair and clothes and went on your way.
Okay maybe there was time for quitting. Before you could even step deep into the woods; three large, yet oddly young looking wolves were running towards you. Determined, angry and ready to attack. They were charging at you at full speed, when suddenly they came to a halt. Causing the biggest wolf to slide right in front of you. His cold snout touched your equally as cold nose. Your eyes aligned together as the giant wolf stared at you with awe. As terrified as you were, you couldn’t help and stare back. The scream you had intended to let out was stuck at the back of your throat, so you stood there breathing noticeably hard.
It had been longer than thirty seconds and the two wolves in the back noticed that you weren’t a threat. They had stared to kick their paws into the dirt impatiently, hoping that their pack member would snap out of it. Your clothes had started to dry, and your scent was coming back. They were starting to realize that you were a Cullen, but they didn’t understand why you had a heart beat. Soon enough the dark brown wolf ripped his eyes away from yours and ran the opposite way from you.
Despite the oddly scary encounter you decided to continue on your adventure in the woods. You went as deep as you could without getting completely lost. Finally you had reached a large tree and realized maybe the other side of the river wasn’t as exciting as you thought it was. You sat down on one of the large trunks and huffed.
“Hey Cullen, what are you doing on our land?” A deep, bitter voice yelled out from behind you. The sudden noise startled you to your feet. When you turned around a group of five tan, built boys stood behind you defensively. Two of which looked older than the rest.
Even though you were indeed scared, there was no way you were going to show it. “Actually I’m a Hale and I’m just taking a look around.”
One of the smallest ones of the group snorted, “Still a leach.”
“Anyways what are you doing here?” Asked a different boy. His voice was soft and gentle. He felt so familiar to you. Almost as if you had met him before.
“Uh um, well I don’t have a valid reason really.” You said nervously rubbing your hand on your neck. No one replied to your comment, they simply just stared at you.
Their staring was starting to make you feel more awkward than scared. “I was going to leave anyways so your friends can relax a bit now.” You said loudly for them to hear as you slowly walked away.
As you were walking, behind you the boys shoved their friend towards you. They were whispering low and teasing him. From the distance you could hear a small echo of, “come on man.”, “just go.” behind you.
Sure enough he caught up to you. His arm nudged yours, “I’ll walk with you.”
You looked up at him in confusion in which he returned with a bright smile. Your heart fluttered and you couldn’t say no. You simply smiled and gave him your hand to shake. “(Y/N) Hale pleasure to meet you.”
He placed a firm gripped on your hand and shook it, “Seth Clearwater. I have a feeling we’re going to be good friends.”
