It has been a month since I launched my shop and I have not stopped learning new things. Well actually not all of them are new, some I already knew of, but chose to ignore. Since I started to design more and make it available to public I felt the need to be more responsible. I have to be more conscious on what to put out there for the world to see, to wear and to use. I need to be more aware of how the designs would impact people, their culture and tradition. One topic that I have been reading about is Cultural Appropriation. It is very common to misunderstand and I really need to do more research and learn more. You cannot just borrow others' culture and use it as your aesthetic; worse is to make money out of it. It is disrespectful and a form of colonialism. I am sad to let go of using paper cranes and dream catchers but in this era, all of us need to learn and unlearn things. Do you like topics about space and time? How about the wormhole theory? I have read that they started talking about this way back in 1916. This is connected to the theory of general relativity by Einstein and Rosen. Wormholes can be used to travel in space and time but it is not as simple as what they use in scifi movies. What would we do if we ever spot one? Can you imagine? I like reading about time travel and outerspace as much as I like coming up with designs about them. This sweater is one of my best sellers! Who wont want an astronaut getting sucked into a wormhole on their shirt? The Taal Volcano, Philippines. I grew up in a country with lots of breathtaking places and natural resources. Beautiful mountain ranges, volcanoes, waterfalls, rainforests, the ocean blue waters, anything that you could ask for. One of my favourite spots is Tagaytay, where one of the smallest volcanoes reside. A few hours drive from Manila, and you can escape to a much better climate (less hotttttt) and witness the beauty of the Taal. This is my inspiration in this illo. I know it is not fair to have a favourite but this baby really stole my heart from the moment I saw it. It is an Aglaonema 'Chocolate' and I named her Rocca. I tried to list the species name of my plants but I cannot seem to find the exact name of this one. If you know please comment down below ^___^ I will truly appreciate it. Aglaonemas are so underrated. They are such easy care plants and their foliage are gorgeous! Most of the species' popular name in the market is Chinese Evergreen. This one I got from @interiorplants.ca and Olga has always been so considerate and generous in giving basic plant care and tips.
