this is about me. in recant years and beyond i have always question who i am. now while most of my generation and younger ones struggle with their genders and sexuality that is not where my issue is. i am a female with female pronouns. i like being girly some times and others i am happy to just be feminine-ish. i dress for comfort. but again these are not my issues. . . there is no rule book nor is there a guide on how to be like your name. my name was unique till 1988 when a famous singer came into the scene. the name moriah means the wind and black gold which back during the oil rush it was common for people to yell out moriah in excitement when they found oil. moriah is also a mountain mentioned in the Bible. yet with all this growing up i was teased for many things my hair, my clothes, but most of all my name. i have been called mariah carey out of malice. ive even grown up with hearing the story how my name was picked and though i myself experienced the same feeling in naming my own children i cant help but think: was it really them or was it me? but i still struggle. i feel weird when i say my name. i get looks when i say my name. ive even been called racist because moriah is not a, and i quote: “is not a little white girls name.” when i meet other moriahs im overly excited. but im not like them so am i really a moriah at all? i dont feel like one... . . i am struggling. i wish it was different. ive even debated on posting about it. i cant be the only one that struggles with their name. can i? . . the feeling still remains though. who am i? or rather what is my name? i recently met a danni though her name was spelled with two “n”s we were both excited to meet each other and i admit i held a bit more excitement, but we still shared the same joy in meeting. i have never had this with others named moriah. am i even a moriah? i dont feel like one. . . my family calls me windy and its more of a name to me than moriah. i love windy because that is what my dad and mom call me and it will always be a family only name. but moriah? i feel it is not my name even though paper says otherwise and i have been called it all my life. #myname #whatismyname #namechange https://www.instagram.com/p/COn4bjED820/?igshid=9whg4xvq0h4j
