I've made many OCs... Sometimes I write stories about them... Some of them are crossovers... But I myself am far too splintered to turn into a coherent character. I pretty much just stole half my Identity. GAH! Almost forgot to mention, this is technically a Mod Blog... Which I'll probably use to just Explain myself. Sburb Ponies

For the record... I’ve discovered a problem that, though it likely isn’t what’s made it difficult to get updates for Sburb Ponies out, certainly hasn’t and won’t help.

My Wacom Tablet seems to have worn out... Or is otherwise in a non functional state.

Based off the fact that not even the power light will turn on, and based on some other minor checks (power cord seems okay, not sure about the monitor control box thing for it that it all connects to) it seems that either the control box or the tablet/monitor itself is busted.

Needless to say, I don’t exactly have the budget to replace it or get it looked at any time soon... So... I’m screwed, and if it wasn’t for the fact I don’t have the best practices with STICKING to Hiatuses NOR with properly calling them... I’d say this is a good reason to.

That said, I’ve not exactly had much time to draw, given I’ve only got a couple of free days a week... And most of my free hours are spent sleeping because “pain”... And yet, Christmas approaches, so of all things, I really SHOULD start drawing again... Even if only because I need to make sure not to forget how.

So... Yeah, guess I’ll just have to use a scanner, and do it the old fashioned way.

Hmm... I picked up Pokémon Ultra-Moon, and not even five minutes in and already I feel like I’m in the Mirror Universe where everything is uncanny... The Lilie cold opening aside, the uncanniness comes from something even more basic.

HOW you happen to choose your Pokémon, and the circumstances surrounding it... Something is fundamentally different. In the original, it was practically ceremonial, and the Kahuna was there, and he was saying things about how the Pokémon needs to choose the trainer too... And... Here its glossed over like someone forgot what that meant.

... Granted, the new circumstances aren’t that bad. Its like “hey, these Pokémon legit care about people; they just saved you from a wild Pokémon!”

It does sum up the more straightforward themes of Pokémon better, though it seems so casual about it. As if its just a thing they do, and everyone in-verse already knows its a thing, so there’s not much point dwelling on it.

I don’t know how to feel about this.

Side note: Also the game froze RIGHT after this happened... LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE!

I was just looking through my posts... And just noticed one of my Sburb Ponies posts got a NSFW note... I’m not sure WHY that happened. If anyone has a clue WHY this happened, I’d like to know.

I know I’ve already not been posting as often as I used to (been busy, I’ll keep it at that), but this makes me wonder whether I might have to question the direction I’ve been going with this.

... I mean, I’ve already straddled the line on what’s likely acceptable in OTHER posts, and this just makes me wonder if I should... Well... Commit to whatever direction that led in. On one hand, it means a (possibly) smaller audience, but on the other, I’ve been courting a pretty niche subset of interests already, and the followers of SBURB ponies has remained around the 60-70 mark for... I don’t know how long.

Seriously though... How does a post with just TALKING get a NSFW tag yet previously we’ve had blood and certain outfits that don’t seem to have been tagged.

Anyways, I’m trying to get an update for Sburb Ponies up for either later Today or Tommorow (because Arc Number), so... Wish me luck.

I have a Preview! Finally!

You know... I keep getting stuck... And the thought that usually seems to get me unstuck is the thought “skip to the action”... Only to realize that doing realistic action, it’s only going to last two panels at most; otherwise its just gratuitous or impossible to draw, or both.

Anyways... Decided to play it a bit looser this time. Not sure if better, worse, or just appropriate.

So… They announce Ultra Moon (And Ultra Sun)… And looking at the new forms, all I can think is this:

“What do you get when you cross Lunala with Necrozma?”

“Batman, you get Batman”

Something I missed the first time I saw the new Digimon Universe opening... But, who is this guy? I have no idea, so I’m just going to let that simmer in you mind.

Other than that, I’m mostly pondering whether I should expect predictable plot twists with respect to... Certain plot developments and foreshadowing.

In normal Digimon series, the guy who’s been missing for ages and has a connection to another character usually turns out to be a brainwashed pawn. Maybe not all the time, but enough. So it occurs to me Rei’s brother Hajime may be in that role. However, I’m not sure about this one, partly since the crew of this series specifically wanted to get away from the expanded cannon, plots, and mythology of normal Digimon series.

On the other hand... There’s also Haru’s Friend Yujin, has also quite frequently had the whole glowing red eye thing through the season so far and often is seen spying on the cast. So you expect him to be in that position, possibly as “the mole”. Which would be somewhat a change of pace... I don’t think I remember any series where the enemy has been beside them from the start. (Unless you count the Cyber Sleuth game, and even then that’s not a villain from the start situation, but a betrayal situation.)

Needless to say... Somewhere after I saw the reveal of the Yujin’s partner, and the reveal that Hajime is no longer in his true form, due to some data restructuring... My first instinct was “what if Hajime is now Yujin’s partner?”... Well, that, and considering if Yujin WAS Hajime. But I’m going to call that one a long shot; especially considering I’m pretty much willing to guess that any character is Hajime. Hackmon? Is he Hajime? Who knows?

I don’t know, just some wild speculation... I think too much. I seem to have a bad habit of considering all possible outcomes.

I’m sure some of you may be wondering what I’ve been spending all my time on lately to only update Sburb Ponies once a month... Well aside from catching up on video games, I’ve also been playing a lot of “Tabletop” games over the internet. Namely Pathfinder and Shadowrun.

... Since I CAN draw, I made a picture for my first character in the pathfinder campaign I’m currently playing in (pictured Left, albeit recolored), who was a Draconic Kitsune Bloodager who died fighting a Devil Fish. I blame this largely on the fact I built her for Strength which Kitsunes take a penalty on, rather than using a Dex Build via an archtype. Worst, AC, ever... Her replacement is now a Kitsune Monk who’s basically unhittable.

... On the other hand, I also have been running an AP for Pathfinder as a GM. And in the middle of it, I got a little bored and tried to troll the players with “You barely notice a Kobold Ninja trying to make off with some gold and food it pilfered from you while you were busy fighting off Viking raiders”... Only for them to turn around and befriend her. So... Yeah, I drew that up too.

So yeah... I felt like sharing art today. Also I guess share stories that fit with the theme of April Fools day, if by fits, I mean  jokes that become less of a joke. Which is my idea of a good joke.

Kind of hope to use these characters again some day. Though in the former case, with a major rebuild.

I dislike drawing updates that are just talking heads

I’m often stuck drawing it anyways because “what other image can accompany long conversations where little happens?”

... I often later spend half a month trying to avoid drawing it only to go back and cut half the conversation out, and as a result half the panels.

I should really start outsourcing.

Something I’ve been pondering for a while is a certain question on how people are going about making Augmented Reality.

The glasses sets being used are one way of doing it, but the way I always imagined it when I was younger was a more “Solid” headset with two cameras on the front and a couple of screens inside.

... Or to put it another way, basically a VR headset with cameras on the front so you can see what’s in front of you.

It just seems a bit redundant to me to have a see-through screen and the technological hurdles that come with it when you can achieve the same effect with a regular screen displaying the full image of what’s seen by the camera.

Also... This is probably the only way of doing it that would actually suit my current eye situation. I need sunglasses half the time due to some light sensitivity issues, and I can’t afford to just keep swapping out shields of some glasses just to maintain the right level of light for comfort. Its easier to just set a brightness level on a screen.

This isn’t to say I think one shouldn’t make the see through glasses screens at all, since I can tell that its likely going to work better for those with “VR nausea” or whatever its called. But for those of us that don’t seem to have that, it seems odd this is effectively the only method I’ve seen get any spotlight.

While watching Digimon Universe:

Brother: What is this? A Digimon knockoff?

Me: This is literally Digimon.

Brother: Huh...

So I was thinking to myself... “Hmm... What should a cyborg pony horn look like?“, and while I thought I had a vague Idea of it a while ago... It only occurs to me to ask if it looks silly.

I was thinking the horn (as rectangular as it looks) should have a line going up it, but I tried this instead of what I was thinking of... And now it looks like a light fixture. I am mildly amused.

Also... Pretty sure that cyborg lines should be on neck as well... But given gills are supposed to be a thing for the pony in question... I figured I had to make light up gills.

This is screwy, given she’s already supposed to glow in the dark before she becomes cyber. So... Le shrug.

This is effectively the image that went through my head once I saw the Steel Z-Move in action. Basically Gurren Lagann with Lucario.

Why Lucario? Well, Lucario already has spikes that are pointy coming out of its hand/paws. All you need to do is etch some spirals on them and you have a drill. So if you suddenly have that spike grow 10 fold to do Corkscrew Crash, then its gonna be pretty indistinguishable from Giga Drill Breaker.

It also helps that the Japanese name for Corkscrew Crash translates to “Super Spiral Combo”; a move name that almost means the same as “Giga Drill Breaker”... Almost.

Did you hear that in sun/moon, every pokemon has low polygon models along with walking and running animations? Game Freak might have been planning for pokemon followers. There's speculation that it might be implemented in the Switch port of the games.

I saw the thumbnail of a youtube video that pretty much summed that up for me. But yeah, sounds cool. Hopefully it will stay this time.

So I picked up Final Fantasy XV earlier today. Something to do while the Riolu in Pokemon are in Pokepelago. A while in, I started flipping through the car's play list... And you know what I find? "Justice Monster FIVE Soundtrack" What I want to know is WHY ISN'T THAT A THING?! I mean, is it a thing? Seriously, anything that insane sounding has to be worth watching. By the way, said soundtrack was awesome.

At this point, I have to tip my hat to Game Freak for making it hard to predict what’s next... But I’m still going to try, if only so I can have a semblance of being able to temper my expectations on whether to “Get Hype” or just accept its a Pokémon game, its good enough to get what we get.

Whatever reasons are resulting in lower frequency of new Pokémon, make it hard to tell if the underlying pattern I noticed since I was 13 is broken, or merely altered.

Granted, back then I only noticed that “Odd numbered generations have more Pokémon than Even numbered ones.” And yet If I were to rephrase that based on the most recent information, it would be: “Odd numbered Generations have more than the previous generation, and even numbered generations have less Pokémon than the previous generation”.

I thought this line of prediction would last... But now I can only assume that next generation might completely refute that line of reasoning. Especially given the fact I now have to make distinctions between “New Pokémon” and “New Pokémon forms” as well as both together, with all three having different outcomes right now in their statistics; in that the old rule of thumb only seems to apply to “New Pokémon” only and not Forms or the combined total.

For now, this is all I have.

That said... I figure I may as well branch the predictions, one using the usual idea, and one eyeballing it based on the yellow line.

You know... A mental image I keep having is getting all the “Artificial” pokemon like Mewtwo, Genesect, and most Recently Silvally... All getting together in a club.

... Or more specifically that the former two or more say “welcome to the club, we have poker” to the latter.

Bonus thought: One time I thought of this, I pondered what they’ use for chips in poker... And then figured that depending on context, they could be using the thousands of wasted Pokéball thrown at them that litter their cave as the chips.
