Though their eyes met only briefly, Endymion could see the pain in the queen’s eyes as she tore her gaze away to look back out at the city below. The crystal city stood as a symbol of peace, the beginning of the Crystal Era, an era to rival the Silver Millennium. Yet when Endymion saw the pain in his bride’s eyes, he would gladly give it all away to see her warm smile again. To see that bright eyed, beautiful, ambitious girl she used to be before duty made her worn and tired.
He knelt down, his lavender slacks pressing into the green grass beneath him as his hands came to gently take the queen’s on her lap. He held them there on her lap as he looked up at her through his white mask.
“Usako,” he breathed. How long had it been since they’d been alone like this? That he could use that name with her? “What can I do to bring your smile back?”
Serenity’s head moved at the question, facing the other. “I-” The young Queen trailed off, swallowing softly. “I don’t know what you mean Endymion.” She said softly, her voice a whisper. She knew of course that she seemed sad, upset, even off. Of course she knew, she was the one feeling all these things but how could she tell her Prince, her King how she had doubts about them, about Crystal Tokyo, about their daughter.
Usagi hadn’t wanted this life, Usagi had wanted to be free, to live in the moment but Serenity and though close to her took that form Usagi, they brought Serenity back but killed Usagi in the processes though no one but the Queen knew.
“It’s funny that you called me Usako when that name on longer means anything to this body.”
