On the subject of "controversial opinions" over fictional characters - curious what your thoughts on Milgram T3 have been so far?
As a disclaimer I only follow the music video project for the story and personally choose not voting since the beginning (I have my own reason). So, this is more of my thoughts as "passive reader" rather than "participating reader". Because of this, I more have thoughts about the narrative structure rather than moral judgement of each character.
I think as T3 uncovered one by one, it's become obvious that the writer actually wants to write about "how to judge crimes that exist because of terrible system", but the focus for some character ended up more about the crime rather than the system, or maybe the faulty within the system isn't really mentioned until the report come out. For example, Shidou case supposed to be terrible work system that doesn't put much care about the mental toil of the worker and Mahiru's case supposed to be a terrible family system that enforce some belief. Additionally, the year each character come from (that is very crucial to see the context of that era for some case) only become clear later on.
I don't know if it's intentional in a way -> T1: see the character's personal belief, T2: see the character's crime, T3: see the system that surrounds character's crime? I may be wrong though.
Speaking of which, although it's maybe impossible because of in-universe reason, I feel MV would make some difference for the reader to view the deceased character's report? Because, for example, I really love Kazui's that show his mental breakdown alongside Hinako's gentleness and suffering that add weights to the case, but with Mahiru's report I like, "Okay that twist a bit sudden, but how about the lover's POV? Is this report reliable, even?"
Because the whole thing isn't finished yet, I think I want to wait until it finished to see the full narrative first before making my own personal judgement about the characters orz
