HEADCANON : REMEMBERING ASTARION.

i just spoke about this on @donebowing - about how our minds can wall away trauma and block it from our memory and i think that's very interesting into relation of seb recognising astarions face but not being able to place his name. for years , he loathed that name - hated hearing it until one day he just blocked it out and forgot it. he remembered the vampire that lured him but he blocked out a lot of the details , only recalling them when he sees astarion for the first time in over a century. you can hear this tremor in his voice , of recognition and confusion. he remembers the way astarion sounds when he talks and starts to recall what happened and once he's free , and fleeing to the underdark , sebastian has to deal with those memories and feelings all over again.

THE STORY OF SEBASTIAN DUBOIS LEIF PRE BECOMING A SPAWN.

found on the side of the road by a human couple - he was immediately took in as their son. the couple , marie and frederick dubois had wanted a child for as long as they could remember. this felt like a miracle to them, a baby boy seemingly abandoned. the only problem for them was his ears. the distinct points that indicated the child itself was not like them.

despite this they raised the boy as human and named him sebastian. they did everything they could to hide his ears, even going so far as to have him grow his hair out as he got older. the older he got , the more he began to realise his life was not what it seemed and neither where his parents. he matured differently to the humans around him, showing signs of a long lifespan. whilst his parents seemed to age quickly in his eyes, reaching their sixties - he did not. by the time he had reached the appearance of an adult human , sebastian had discovered the truth. he chose to break away on his own , feeling a sense of betrayal. he did look for his biological parents only to discover that they had been murdered and the culprits of that murder had left sebastian on the side of that road , to die. he changed his last name to leif , wanting no connection to his adoptive parents.

starting out as a trader , he eventually ended up working at sharess' caress. it afforded him a room and a roof over his head. he'd spent his day's off making plans in his head to one day leave the city entirely , and his nights off were spent at the blushing mermaid ( which is where he met astarion ).

he'd caught a glance of astarion before, a beautiful charming elf who often went home with someone but he'd never had the courage to approach him until that fateful night when everything changed.
