Black women in the workplace.....A Primer.
1. Graduate from college, settle into your new job.
2. When you do a good job at your new job, you will attract praise.
3. But beware, there is always ONE coworker looking to put you in your place.
4. She will start off making a show of respecting everyone except you.
5. Then she will straight up dis you in front of all your coworkers.
6. Let her know what time it is, in a professional but straightforward manner.
7. But just know she will tell everyone you acted like this:
8. Sometimes she will even embellish the story and claim you assaulted her.
9. And then put on the White Woman's Tears™ to make her point.
10. Some of your coworkers will try to blame the victim and claim you're at fault and you're oversensitive.
11. Just keep acting professional, but let silly people know what time it is.
12. And if you have to take off your earrings & get you some Vaseline, we understand.
