Afro-latin@s struggle with being ignored by the media because for some reason people don’t believe you can be both Latino and Black. This is why there’s so much controversy when it comes to race and ethnicity. People try to paint Latin@s as this light brown or even white skinned when there are many dark skinned Latin@s. They are in all parts of South America, Central America, the Caribbean, & in North America (Mexico). Unfortunately, these folks aren’t represented in the media much and we have portrayed Latin@s in a certain way that has shaped the thoughts of others when they hear that word.

Then there’s the serious lack of knowledge by people who still don’t understand the clear difference between race and ethnicity, and assume Black means “African American” (which it does not), so as a result they question your identity. Race does not denote one’s ethnicity/ethnicities. Latinxs do not have a specific look or skin color. There are sooooooo many brown skin Latinxs out here.

What peaked me, what I particularly couldn't help paying attention to, was the leniency and/or support for this.

"There's bad apples in every community" your bad apples, like "Sarah Jane" Baker, convicted for kidnapping, torture and murder attempt, leisurely leads trans events, is infinitely coddled, completely unbothered, uncriticised, applauded. A male torturer shouts "punch women in the fucking face" and you, the good ones, the only really empathetic ones, think it's hilarious. Because some women deserve to be beaten by men, right? And it's the men who decide which ones.

It's a recurrent event. The criminality pattern of trans-identified men is ignored and made light of. If you bring it up, if you question it, you'll be at fault, you'll be the dangerous one, not the men harassing, raping and killing and demanding unrestricted access to women and girls.

Your bad apples run the show and you clap like morons.

Then some spoiled nobody who's never had a real problem in their sheltered little life says it's silly we notice. Those hysterical, crazy feminists amirite. el oh el
