I Am the Magic Hand, San Francisco, 1937, John Gutmann
Private House in Peckham is a minimalist residence located in London, United Kingdom, designed by Al-Jawad Pike. The project provides a new two-story rear extension to this Victorian terraced house in South London. The existing narrow kitchen extension on ground floor was remove and replaced with a new light filled kitchen and dining area. The ground floor is expanded sideways filling the entire width of the plot with reconfiguration of the existing internal layout to incorporate a washroom and generous arrival hall. Volumetrically, the ground and first floor extension is articulated into two distinct volumes constructed from a light colored pigmented concrete block, which provide a subtle distinction from the main house. The windows in this new volume are made from oak, which has also been used in the interiors.
Upper part of a marble face. From the Asklepieion in Athens. Around 350 B.C. On the eyebrows and the inner part of the eyelids some traces of red pigment survive. The iris is of brown, the pupil of grey stone. The eyeball and the inner part of the corner of the eye are rendered in white and red stone respectively. The head was fastened into a poros block which had niches of various sizes for inserting the votive gifts.

House in Tarumi is a minimal residence located in Kobe, Japan, designed by Tomohiro Hata Architect and Associates. The site is located in a typically developed area along the slopes of Kobe. The slope was scraped off, but the terrain still shows that character. Since the geographical condition has decided factors like wind direction, abundant sunlight, and vegetation, the designers thought it is important to conceive an architecture that receives and enjoys the natural environment such as daylighting and ventilation, and also give good effect to the ambience by making it a space composition close to the terrain.
Centina is a minimalist collection designed by Milan-based studio Giacomo Moor. The collection refers to the scaffolding norms deployed in the construction of arches, with a keystone placed to the complete the arch. This method, in some ways, refers back to the subtraction of material patented by Alvar Aalto to bend solid wood. Here, elements that are usually exposed to curvature are instead set to work under compression, thereby deconstructing received logic by simply upturning it.
