recording for music videos is always annoying in yoojin’s opinion, if only because she doesn’t really care for all attention to be on her. having to perform in front of the camera is different from getting to perform onstage. after all, if yoojin could be completely behind the scenes, she would almost prefer that. however, she doesn’t exactly have that choice at this point. instead, she spends most of her time dancing like a puppet in front of cameras for the entertainment of others. however, the situation like what happened with ‘ dumdi dumdi ’ was just another reason her mood was a bit soured this time around. but she tried to keep her head up for the time being. however, the moment lux mentions the song, she can feel herself internally flinch.
“ is it that obvious ? ” yoojin asks, chuckling lightly. the two are taking a quiet moment to themselves before they begin shooting a scene together, and yoojin’s scrolling through her phone idly. not really processing anything she was seeing, more just doing something with her hands to keep them busy. “ the company specifically wanted me to write something … summery … i didn’t really know how to go about that. ” yoojin explains with a sigh as she lowers her phone into her lap and turns to the other. “ we had a new producer too, who did a lot of the work. they were supposed to ‘ boost the summer sound ’ … whatever that means. ” she shrugs.
“ is it bad ? ” yoojin asks, hopeful that lux wouldn’t lie to her ( perhaps not completely honest, yoojin didn’t want to be told it sucked, but they could tell her whether or not it was decent at least. ) “ i guess this is what dimensions gets for making me write a song specifically for a comeback instead of just going with anything i’ve submitted … ” yoojin mumbles. “ or maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll take it as bait to finally ask you to write ? ” she asks, brows raised and voice sounding hopeful. quite honestly, she wished they’d bite the bullet and do it. after yoojin had started writing, the group had done leagues better – who’s to say the same wouldn’t happen if lux started writing for them ? yoojin was careful, though, voice soft and tentative as she knew it was a tender spot for lux. it had been years now, but yoojin was aware of how they felt about the situation. “ i don’t know … it something, but i’m not sure 7ROPHY’s going to have the smash summer hit or anything. ” they probably weren’t even popular enough to manage that.
lux, on the other hand, doesn't particularly mind filming music videos. they aren't opposed to the attention (not that 7rophy's music videos ever really center around them anyway). it's not as good as performing, but it's better than a fansign or hi-touch. it's better than the interaction with strangers, overwhelming, loud, and uncontrollable. lux isn't the best dancer in 7rophy, not even possibly dance line, if you stood them next to the actual dancers of the group and gave them all the same choreography. lux blames their long, thin limbs, finding that they make them look awkward as a baby foal and just as lost. in the end, it didn't matter - lux was there for their voice. their appearance, maybe. dancing wasn't something they needed to be good at.
lux nodded mildly, not having meant the observation as any sort of drag, but it was certainly noticably different from yoojin's usual clever lyrics and inspired sound. much as they might have wished it was them that dimensions had chosen as a producer idol, it wasn't as if yoojin lacked the talent to carry the role. they scoff at dimensions' apparent demands for yoojin. maybe that was why they never picked u their songs - if they'd asked something so stupid of them, lux thought they'd simply return with the lyrics to a bee song. better to straight up cover something than to try to force marketability into 7rophy's sound. "that's ridiculous. you've been nothing but successful so far, why can't they just let you do your thing?" certainly it was a little less of a fantasy now, to be dimensions' prize producedol.
"it's not, it just doesn't feel like your writing, so it doesn't really feel like 7rophy." lux admitted bluntly. "it sounds like 7rophy covering someone else. i don't think the new producer should be part of the regular team of people who have a hand in our music, to be honest with you, but i don't hate the song." contrary as the statements seemed, the connection made sense in lux's head. the song wasn't bad, it just didn't fit the image of 7rophy lux had in their head. again they scoffed. "i dooubt it, but you're sweet. maybe they'll give my songs to other groups someday, but i feel like they're going out of their way to keep me away from 7rophy's production process." lux held their jealousy of yoojin's position out for all to see, after all, though they harbored no ill will toward the girl. it wasn't her fault she'd been chosen, and if the roles were reversed, lux was certain yoojin would feel much the same way. "i get what you mean. i guess you never know, but i'm not holding my breath, honestly."
