Wait, so Moon Knight is basically if instead of Bruce Banner turning into the Hulk is if he turned into a Moon Man, but he also had a Venom telling him things to do (being Khonshu)? Like I knew Banner had DID, but I didn’t know it was that simple. Would that work as an explanation from his perspective to a hero team in the future would you think? “I’m like if the Hulk looked like Banner all the time, but could still kick ass?”
So there’s a lot of questions wrapped up in this. So for the sake of this post, I’m going to unthread them and answer them individually.
Also just a caution on some of the language here. I’d advise being a tad more careful with calling either Bruce’s or Marc’s DID simple.
1. Do Hulk and Moon Knight both have DID?
Yes. Both characters have DID. I am unsure as to the exact intricacies of Bruce Banner’s DID as I don’t usually read Hulk comics.
2. Is Moon Knight an alter like Hulk is?
The short answer: not anymore. To make this quick: MK’s DID historically hasn’t always been treated the best. There was a point in time, closer to his inception, that Moon Knight would’ve been the equivalent of what authors today are more readily willing to acknowledge as an alter. However, this is no longer canon, and Moon Knight can be any of the alters (usually Marc, Steven, or Jake) in the suit.
3. Is Khonshu like Venom?
If we’re solely talking MCU, I can see where that comparison comes from. His suit wraps around him and we see Khonshu telling him exactly what to do. This is very different than the comics. In the comics, the suit is much more of a typical superhero suit, usually it is created by Marc himself. Khonshu also usually isn’t there in the middle of battle telling him what to do (though he can be). For comic MK especially, the act of being Moon Knight is much more religious. Khonshu is his god who he prays to and serves. Also, when Khonshu tells Marc what to do, it is usually him being summoned to Khonshu or consulting him. Here’s an example:
That being said, Marc is still very much sassy towards Khonshu, often doesn’t listen, and can be very upset with having to serve him. Their comic dynamic is much closer to a god (who sees himself as Marc’s true father) and his follower/high priest(who for better or worse, serves his god but isn’t always happy to do so)
Okay, I hope that helped!
most of my OSDD comics are gone from the internet AFAIK but I thought this one would be good to reupload (also sometimes you have to google psychologytoday dissociative disorder to get the category to show up)
