CREATIVE SEQUENCE
To pursue further in the future of design as becoming a designer, I intend to develop and plan something that defines the connection of social and multi-cultural engagement. The ability to acknowledge other cultural aspects and to raise awareness of the many different backgrounds that call Melbourne, or to speak widely, Australia ‘home.’ Primarily focusing towards the Asian cultural community as numbers have risen over the past years. Whether it would be for work, study, future aspirations, environment living or family support, the ethnic groups in Asia have encountered the Australian way of living as a multi-cultural island. It is said that Australia’s diverse migrant communities have brought them over with lifestyle, food, and cultural practices, as this has been captivated into the Australian mainstream culture. Reasoning with a large depth of culture and being able to reduce that significant value into a minimal focus is what I will determine as this creative sequence.
I would like to take the opportunity of creating a passport-like booklet that engages its users of the Asian cultural languages that have come apart of the multi-cultural language of Australia. The fairly small publication booklet/s will act like a dictionary crossed with a passport. Informative themes such as language, lifestyle and food will feature as its main components. Strong typography and infographics will set the base of the publication style along with icons, maps and statistics. Under the aesthetic of minimalism and its simple design nature, I shall incorporate a bold statement that asian culture in mainstream environment is worth noticing of. Clear visuals with minimal colour will provide the audience of progressive details and experience contained within the booklet. The designed work that will be produced is to also inform the target audience, take notice of their surroundings and may have a clear sense of the Asian culture.
Going forward with this certain design style, the movement from minimal multidisciplinary design infused to a driven cultural language theme can have possible mixtures of creative design outcomes. Introducing a really broad theme like asian culture, and performing it in a way of a simple manner is to elevate the design of minimalism. As like changing up something from a large scale, into portraying it as a minimal and concise version. To develop the understanding, and challenge how an open context can interact and shift within a much smaller space of design work. Keeping all the fundamentals, and expressing the three - five asian countries and its culture to a much softer and clear tone. To concentrate the key idea of conveying the message, should give the audience the certainty and possibility of engaging with the culture and its people, or understanding the basics of their language.
Dedicated to university / international students, cultural groups, designers, creatives and the community - of introducing the basic understanding of asian cultural language to mainstream environment. As taking part in this course, I have come across many Asian ethnicity design students at the city campus, being international students or local students of having an asian cultural background, just as myself. Not just communication design but it varies a lot throughout the courses offered.
Offering this type of cultural background to express and differentiate its uniqueness and manner, will provide the audience of a mix of cultures becoming as one. It could possibly present learning and recognizing the language as an attempt to understand the several Asian groups within the general public. Understanding the concept, the audience will be presented with fine infographic forms, language engagement, and setting up minor activities for enjoyment. Creating this type of creative sequence, I would like to include some of my heritage, plus others into the design that requires experience and travel.
DESIGN PROFILE POSITIONING STATEMENT
Aspiring in editorial design / publication, photography and digital editing, I have been accustomed to multiple design disciplines and been encouraged to develop innovative work that shows individuality and my certain style. The interest of design aesthetic and principles that value alot to me are the minimalism effect, cleanliness and intriguing approach to showcase the work. The little extra details emphasizes my most attention as well as the alignments of type / elements being balanced. The simplest of design in fact captures my interest since expecting alot within a design could be overboard. That is why minimal design with one or few colour swatches relates to alot of my project work thus far. Enabling this style within my work creates a consistency and develops more of my design style.
Going into this direction of the creative design industries has certainly broadened my creativeness - of designing, crafting, informing and communicating. Being of Australian-born Filipino descent, I would like to pursue this career in the future which I am most likely sure that my family has not. Being able to travel and acknowledge other cultures within design displays alot of the originality and uniqueness. This way I could express my thoughts and develop designs that certain audiences may consider effective and appropriate.
To set my foot firmly and position myself in the future, I could possibly perform work in the disciplines of publication, editorial design and/or strategic identity brand design. Either with a studio, freelancing or helping out family businesses. Having the vision to explore and not particularly stay in one area of interest is what I intend to take. Options are endless, experience is never ending, and opportunities are always coming ahead.
VIDEO POSITIONING STATEMENT
A 4 minute positioning statement video has been developed to inform my future practice and style. Multidisciplinary and minimalism is the focus. The feel of the video is quite soothing / lively with the music transitioning with the backgrounds and text. Given the feel of ease and simpleness, the video fends off the future in which I intend to take

It means communicating as much as possible with as few elements as possible.

HUNT&CO - value preposition
Hunt & Co’s value raises a lot of attention as a top high end quality price. A local design consultancy with clients mainly located within the nation, though the worldwide publication company of ‘Process Journal’ is one of Hunt&Co’s primary clients, and has Williams as its founder and editor in chief. 'Made Quarterly' is also founded by Williams and is an editor of its publications. Hunt & Co’s direction of publishing has been seen as a leading aspect with the knowledge, marketing, production and distribution of its content.
The difference in relation to design with other designers and creatives around the Melbourne area, is the crisp and freshness of design covered in the studio. Formally influenced with Dutch and Swiss Design, Hunt & Co’s consistency is valued throughout. Being type heavy, its branding and format performs a clean and solid look. In this way, the studio stands out within the crowd with its boldness and strong appeal. “Believing in good design is the produce of observation, conservation, and collaboration, it requires curiosity and bravery.”
Moreover, what is appealing of Hunt & Co. are that it justifies the type of designer and overall style. With that, the connection made with its client and designer shows great understanding, and captures the most simple form of design. The work looks effortless and really simple. The idea and thinking behind a concept is hidden away behind the design, which therefore the audience etc. must dig deep to find the extra meaning. Minimalism and negative clear space is key - as this adds to my complete interest.
With managing of how long Hunt & Co studio came about could be in a couple of years span of time. Thomas Williams already had a vision while freelancing and performing in several studios prior. After Hunt Studio was established, Williams captured more creative talents to his studio to create more company.
HUNT&CO - research+analysis
Hunt&Co’s visual appeal of design is very intriguing and involves a high end final production look. The creative design works from simplistic design to content-focused driven. The entire array of design through Hunt&Co is seen through fine detail and the feel of a minimal form.
The internationally recognised Melbourne based design consultancy has been chosen to further pursue research and investigation. Meaning that the design agency of Hunt & Co has appealed to me because mostly all their designs are simple and sophisticated, yet striking. The design does not overcomplicate and refers to a beautiful ease of minimalism. This kind of work stimulates me to acknowledge the excellence of its design. The visuals has an elegant as well as simple form, as the style portrays a connection with the design work in which I have already created. Hunt & Co offers a leading and prominent design flow, as to why I am interested in this studio and would hopefully experience and take part in some of their design work.

KICKSTARTING THE STUDIO
First of all, as a class, we conducted research into design artefacts in Melbourne CBD and outer regions. We also acknowledged and noticed many design studios that intrigued us into wanting to take part into their design style / studio. In which we mapped out the locations and had a clear visual of where design may be located.
I took part in the research at Docklands - where several studios were located and collaborated with each other to produce design / architecture around the area.
