Mucha-esque stain glassed windows in St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague palace. Quite surprised to see Mucha style windows inside. Being a big Mucha/art noveau fan meant that seeing religious imagery in that style was extremely pleasing to see. The general layout inside Prague castle complex reminds me of the Kremlin in Moscow. Just finished reading the #Odyssey by #Homer , the first Ancient Greek epic I've read. Very beautiful imagery, godlike humans, numerous deities, Cyclopes, sirens and other mythical creatures. What an epic story, young Telemachus seeking his father while suitors shamelessly court his mother and eat up the household goods. While Odysseus struggles back home tackling various challenges. Wonderful! Only managed to finish one book this term, but really needed it as a wind down from all the hectic physics work aha. #books #greekmythology #epicadventure #classicliterature #reading
Just finished reading #lesmiserables , I always told myself that I would read the book before watching the film or theatre and now I've done it. Such a beautifully written book, I don't even know where to begin when it comes to giving praise to this book. It was extremely pleasant to read and heart touching at times too :) glad I managed to finish it before real university works starts. Just spent a good 4 hours in the Hermitage museum/Winter Palace earlier today. (Definitely didn't see everything! The place is so huge!) I'm absolutely brain dead from this onslaught of culture and art. I wish I could capture its magnificence with my camera. Photos or videos won't do it justice. I was extremely impressed by the interior design and architecture itself let alone the art pieces in the galleries. Peterhof palace was absolutely majestic. The golden statues and fountains were so beautiful, the gardens and other palaces around it were captivating. Just visited Dostoevsky's grave at Alexander Nevsky Cemetery. Managed to go to Dostoevsky house museum earlier during the day. Never thought I'd be able to go to Russia and visit my favourite author before graduating from university. It really is a dream come true.
