‘ jade ’ is a spanish given name, meaning ‘ precious green stone ’. the phrase ‘ piedra de la ijada ’ means ‘ stone of the colic ’ or ‘ stone of the side ’ as it was thought to have restorative properties. vivienne is a french name, derived from the old latin ‘ vivus ’ meaning alive. her surname, warbeck, is her adoptive father’s family name and it’s the only part of her name she feels truly connected to. she doesn’t know why her birth parents chose the names they did, and she can happily say she doesn’t care.

BIOGRAPHY:
jade vivienne brantley was born to parents who weren’t expecting her to be the person she is. both purebloods, graduating from hogwarts with significant honours, who decided to live among muggles. perfectly content not to engage with the magic at their fingertips. somehow they ended up with a child who was less than enamoured with normalcy. this manifested early and, due to it, they accepted their ‘ defeat ’ early. they put little effort into raising her as a child, knowing that at eleven she would be given the key to her wildest dreams and they would never have to deal with her again. the brantley house was not an affectionate one, it was really just an interim. if you fail once, try again. ( she thinks that’s how her birth parents felt about her. the first child was unsuccessful, so they tried again. repeatedly, she believes. ) the day of her eleventh birthday came and she was sent to hogwarts promptly. bags packed, not so much as a care for if she would ever return. she was sorted into slytherin and was taken in by mentor ansem warbeck.
he was a seventh year when she first turned up and their relationship was tumultuous at first. to say the least. he didn’t seem to want the responsibility and she wasn’t about to enforce it on anyone else who thought they had better things to do. but as weeks came and week, and as the holidays settled in and they both elected to stay at the castle, they’d come to realise they had a lot more in common than they thought. by the end of the year, ansem sent an owl requesting legal guardianship before the first summer fell, and both the brantleys and jade were grateful to see it granted. between ansem and his girlfriend, who she’d also grown fond of, she had parents for the first time. she moved in with them when they graduated and was adopted four years later, at fifteen, after resolute silence from her birth parents. she became jade warbeck with absolutely no hesitation. ( although she did cry when she found out. ) even through alll the ‘ warbeck crazy ’ ansem always looks aged by when he comes back from the family dinners he protects her from, she wouldn’t change a second of her life.
his influence stoked the fire of what was already her personality. she’s quick, sharp and will take advantage of basically anything with a smile and a victorious strike to her mental tally. she’s competitive as the devil, loves being challenged and losing and winning in equal measure. she gets something out of both, always, she finds. she’s mostly well adjusted, content ( even if she sometimes says she works where she does to watch things go up in smoke ) but for the warbecks, and for kit her kind of girlfriend, she’d kill. unsurprisingly. brutal and bloody if she needed to keep them safe. she’s built a family and she has no intention of letting them go. ( going back into the muggle world, facing the world again, was never an option. she knows where she belongs. )
and well, while she’s well adjusted, her relationship with kit ward did speak to otherwise for a while. they met at eleven, when they were both sorted into slytherin, and kit literally pulled her hair on the playground. she was the epitome of when you like a girl, it comes out in little aggressors. that didn’t necessarily change as they got older, to the horror of every housemaster within fifty feet of them at all time. they were in a cycle; fight, make up, fight, make up. ( she and ansem are eerily similar in this regard. ) when they both graduated, kit went to work with dragons and she with potions. they live together now ( even though neither of them will mention it ) and jade still wouldn’t dare tell her she misses her when she goes on business trips. she does, obviously. it makes ansem’s life hell that he really has created a 2.0.
