you had been friends with yang jungwon for over three years now, so naturally, you came over to his apartment room quite a few times.

but you could swear on your life that it had never been so empty and desolate like this. but nobody knows what’s really going on in someone’s life, right?

you hesitantly sit down on his floor bed— which guarantees a pretty impressive amount of comfort considering it looks like an old mattress— deciding to wait and surprise jungwon once he comes out of his room. the surprise being, you managed to shimmy into his very carelessly open apartment.

you quickly shoot him a text.

im inside btw :)

but no reply yet. well, that's unlikely of jungwon, he's basically online all day.

you look around again. maybe he is showering.

that would explain the sound of running water coming from somewhere deeper inside the apartment.

you lean back against the wall, deciding to be patient until jungwon finishes his sudden shower routine.

although only after a couple of minutes, curiosity and boredom gets the better of you.

prying into someone else’s belongings is not nice as they say, so you thank god that jungwon and you are attached by the hip. and naturally that gives you a little access to his apartment.

standing up, you look around his room.

since when did jungwon own this many black hoodies? you frown at a pile folded neatly on the chair.

and since when did he starts reading philosophy? you eye a couple of books sitting idly on the bookshelf, you wonder if he’s even okay.

you’re about to sit down again when you notice a rather unfamiliar photo frame from the corner of your eyes. you walk up to it beside the chair and pick it up to inspect.

and it has… heeseung? another frame, heeseung with his friends. and another, heeseung with a cat.

your heart drops to your stomach when you turn around and notice the certificate hanging on the wall has a name— lee heeseung.

“fuck,” you mutter under your breath when you realise you accidentally broke into your upstairs neighbour's apartment instead. you scramble to grab your bag before heeseung can notice anything.

that is when you hear a loud thud from the shower from inside the apartment.

inside the shower, heeseung feels he could pass away at any given time.

oh lord, he almost cries, why do you give your weakest soldier the hardest battles.

his brain, in all its brilliance, immediately pictured a masked burglar carrying his floor bed away.

“no,” he gasps, “shit, my bed!”

he grabs the nearest towel, wrapped it around his waist with absolutely zero confidence, then looked around for something to defend himself with.

of course, a bathroom plunger.

“alright lee heeseung,” he says looking at the plunger, “think how proud mr papa would be!”

and then, for reasons that can never make sense even to himself, he breaks into a full sprint.

still soaking wet. hair covered in shampoo bubbles.

“reveal yourself!” he shouts in the top of lungs, startling you enough to drop your bag on his floor.

and there he is, lee heeseung. dripping in soapy water from head to toe, shampoo bubbles forgotten in his hair.

agaisnt your will, your eyes drop down from his face to his abdomen, to his soaking abs which— okay no, no! this is insane, this is wrong. you mentally shake it off and take your sight off his abs, only to wonder even further down to notice the white towel hanging from his frame with sheer faith alone.

“y/n?” heeseung says with much surprise.

“hey,” you reply, followed by an awkward giggle.

heeseung lets his guard down just a little, “what- what are you doing here?”

“i was uh- actually going to jungwons’”, you shrug, “i got lost right after."

“so you’re not robbing me?” is he serious right now?

“no!” you take a step back, “does it look like I’m here to rob you?”

“then why are you not looking at me right now?” heeseung sounds rather sad that your eyes are not one him, but towards the ceiling.

because honestly, you dont know how to react to a half baked lee heeseung, who looks very handsome for you to admit.

“im trying to be respectful,” you clear your throat.

“oh,” heeseung sighs, “then, are you here to finally lend me the pillow?”

you sigh even heavier than him, finally looking at his face, “are you serious? i just told you i wa going to jungwons!”

“oh, yeah right,” heeseung tries to take a step towards you next, but something unlikely happens.

the poor and sad towel wrapped around him slips. just a little. but enough to make you both freeze at your places.

“what—!”, you shriek, eyes darting towards the ceiling again.

“don’t look!”, heeseung fumbles in his steps, holding his towel upright, with both his hands.

“im not looking!”

“please don’t look.”

“i said i’m not looking!”

and just when things could get better, heeseung slips on a puddle of water gathered from his own body, and hurls forward.

in a second, you find yourself caged between a shirtless and soaking heeseung’s arms, his face hovering right above you, so close that your can make out the way his eyelashes are.

“so- sorry,” he whispers, you feel yourself getting hotter by the moment, “hi?”

only god knows how fast you ran out of his apartment today.

I think something that has to be talked about is the fact that some engenes continue to deny that the members are unhappy or uncomfortable with the OT7 fan chant.

The idea in itself that Engenes continue to use the OT7 fan chant although there is already a new one only screams to the members: we haven’t moved on and we don’t care that you don’t like the number games.

I’m sure they are also mourning the departure of their beloved team member and they are not obligated to perform their grief in front of us for us to know that. They want us to move forward with them with acknowledging that they are 6. Continuing to use the OT7 fan chant is still not accepting them as 6 and that is obviously upsetting to see their fans cling onto their past when they’ve decided that moving on will be healthier and more beneficial. The fanchant is made to hype up the members. Heeseung is no longer in Enhypen. You guys can’t expect them to wallow and sit in this situation when it’s their careers at stake. At the end of the day, this is their job. We are more emotionally involved and attached to them than they are to us and I think that’s something a lot of kpop fans don’t wanna think about. I’m not saying that they don’t love us or that they’re not grateful for us. If anything, Enhypen has evidently shown their gratitude in the most sincere ways over the years. I’m just saying that kpop groups and their lore and dynamics are created to be appealing to us so that we will like them and invest our time and money into them. There’s nothing wrong with that tbh as long as you acknowledge that that’s what it is. If you believe that it’s anything else than a job, you’ve already started to have a parasocial mindset and tbh I don’t value the opinions of those with parasocial mindsets because they’re not worth arguing with. A lot of Engenes should also realize that Enhypen came from a survival show. They didn’t train together and it was clear that in the beginning of their careers, things were rocky and a bit stiff dynamic wise. Jungwon also stated this in Youngji’s video but then went on to say that they’ve grown much closer in the last couple of years. But still, they’re very much still co-workers. I’m not saying that they give off “co-worker” vibes. They obviously like each other and spend lots of time with one another. They are a kpop group and the members are clearly a little more individualistic. What Engenes should know is that THAT IS PERFECTLY OKAY. Kpop boy groups don’t need to be brothers or in a polyamorous relationship to be a good group. Enhypen makes amazing music and content and they are good to one another. It’s okay that they are co-workers because that is literally what they are on a contract. Their team member leaving is not like losing your brother. It’s a bit odd that some of you guys are grieving Heeseung like he passed away and some Engenes are getting angry at Enhypen for not grieving the same way. They have looked clearly tired and more sad during these past 4 months. Sunoo watching old videos of him and Heeseung and tearing up. Jay tearing up during Shout Out, etc. They are allowed to feel betrayed or hurt. But they don’t have to sit in it forever and not think objectively about what will be best for the team’s future. I’ve said for these past 4 months that I just wish they could talk to each other or wish that we got a final concert or final goodbye other than a cold company statement and a digital letter. But also, we can’t always expect those things while also claiming that Heeseung was forced out and that the members are being forced to say things. We don’t know the full story. Nobody in this fandom does. And expecting them to mourn Heeseung the same way we do is very insensitive because again, we don’t know the full story. This is their job. They want to move past this and not have Heeseung’s departure overshadow their group forever. That is also important. Many fans keep claiming that their favorite group is “broken” now. Heeseung leaving didn’t break the group. They are all so talented and passionate and I can’t believe people can say that. I agree that the group will definitely be different now but the word “break” easily connotes that they think Enhypen is nothing now that one member is no longer there. Tbh, it’s better to just unstan than to say cruel things like that. They can’t and don’t owe us a goodbye or closure if they don’t even have the right cards to do so.
