My WIP:

The story follows 16 year old Leilani as she and her family run away from her abusive step father and do their best to pursue an undetected life in California.

However, as life moves on and new challenges rear their heads, Leilani must choose between herself and her family, bringing into question everything she was raised to do.

If I had to put this in a genre, fs it’d be a coming of age, Christian, young adult, realistic fiction novel. I give it a YA rating due to the contents it covers (SA, domestic violence, etc.). I don’t go into detail by any means, but it is certainly implied, brought up, and is something the characters will be healing from.

In this scene, Clark says "Can you imagine how good that must feel?"

"There's no thoughts, no pain, no ego. No fear. They simply exist. Like furniture."

But then when he turns the light off, the wheelchair user turns his lamp on. When Mary hits The Pirate with the concrete piece, he yells in pain. Clark consoles The Pirate as though its feelings might be hurt. And when the memory of his wife sees The Pirate, she tries desperately to get away.

They have every one of those things. He just refuses to see their interiority. Like he always did. Like he refused to understand why his wife would kick him out, and keeps refusing, even now that he can see that she was terrified of him. Cause she's always been just furniture to him.

I know its a kids series but it would've been fairly funny if sophie had used slang that didnt translate as slang

"The council wants someone to blame. I suppose ill have to bite the bullet" sophie elves dont use guns? Even if we did they wouldn't shoot you? Sophie dont bite bullets they'll hurt your teeth

"Hey Keefe good luck confronting your dad, break a leg!" Sophie why are you wanting me to get hurt this is hard enough

"Oh Edaline, Grady, where was I? Haha I plead the fifth" the fifth of what sophie? Why are you begging a number? Just answer the question

"I have a good feeling about this mission, knock on wood" sophie dont knock on wood I know you have a weird relationship with trees but its quite rude to knock on the representation of people corpses like that
