Death Note Musical Meta

If you haven’t listened to the NY Death Note Musical you definitely should go do that!

Just like in the Korean version, Jeremy Jordan (Light) uses different intonation to show the change of Lights character from “Light” to “Kira”.

Now in “The Way It Ends”, this happens too in the end and I’m still not over it. He’s singing about how L is going to die.

Light: “Feel how a minute spins now when you wish you had a minute more…a minute…more…”

In the end, his voice is more and more “Light” and this is when I realised how he’s not talking about L here, he’s talking about himself wishing he could have more time with L.

And if that isn’t genius and sad af, I don’t know what is.

The English dub of Death Note can be a bit weak at parts voice acting wise, but there are good moments. When L and Light are talking about the Kira case, Light mentions that he would like to play tennis with him again. L sounded so Soft™ when he said he would like that.
