"IT'S  NAP  TIME,  Mal,"  He  said  gruffly,  tugging  his  shades  down  to  look  at  Mal  blearily.  "I'm  centuries  old,  I'm  entitled  to  one  of  those."  It  was  a  left-over  from  his  time  on  the  Isle  -  there  was  nothing  better  to  do  than  to  sleep  away  his  time  in  exile  and  patiently  await  whatever  came  next.  Some  might  have  called  it  a  form  of  depression  to  better  avoid  his  reality,  but  blaming  it  on  his  age  was  more  amusing  and  in  spite  of  himself,  Hades  felt  his  lips  tugging  into  a  smile.  He'd  been  absent  enough  during  Mal's  life  that  not  even  disturing  naptime  managed  to  shake  his  fondness  for  his  daughter.  "What  do  you  want,  kiddo?"

"HAVE  YOU  SPENT  much  time  in  Olympus?"  Hades  was  unsure  if  he  wanted  Mal  to  like  his  own  home  or  not.  While  Hades  could  admit  his  own  actions  led  him  to  being  imprisoned  on  the  Isle,  he  refused  to  simply  allow  his  siblings  off  the  hook  for  their  part  in  things.  Holding  grudges  was  a  personality  trait  of  his,  but  it  wasn't  the  time  for  his  bitterness  and  Hades  tipped  his  head  backwards  to  look  up.  "It's  good  to  feel  the  sun  again."

It   had   definitely   been   a   gut-check   to   see   her   father   again.   It   wasn’t   even   as   if   they   were   in   the   same   realm   and   the   only   memories   she   had   of   him   were   from   before   he   was   imprisoned   along   with   her   mother.   Luckily   she   had   been   born   and   secured   by   the   gods   and   taken   away   before   she   could   be   harshly   imprisoned,   but   she   had   learned   of   them   what   she   needed   to   by   Zeus   and   the   others   on   Mount   Olympus.   But,   now   that   the   barrier   was   down   –   now   that   she   could   be   face   to   face   with   her   father,   things   were   different.   She   was   a   babe   when   he   last   saw   her   other   than   what   he   could   see   on   television   and   she   had   so   much   to   say   to   him,   but   even   so   once   pale   glossed   lips   opened   for   speech,   no   words   came   out   and   she   let   the   breath   go   from   her   nose   before   looking   around   nervously.   “Are   you   coming   home   now   or?”   was   the   only   thing   she   could   thing   to   say.

SHE  HAD  HARDLY  been  more  than  a  shadow  before  Hades  had  been  imprisoned  on  the  Isle,  small  enough  to  be  an  imp  and  distant  enough  in  the  cruel  clutch  of  Maleficent's  arms  that  she  could  have  been  a  figment  of  his  imagination.  There  had  been  a  time  when  Hades  wondered  if  she  was  truly  his,  but  the  fact  Zeus  took  her  in  confirmed  things  that  Hades  wouldn't  have  trusted  from  Maleficent's  mouth.  Days  were  spent  on  the  Isle  where  he  wondered  if  she  was  being  trained  to  hate  him,  to  replace  him  without  straying  from  Zeus'  plans  and  to  never  hold  the  same  flaws  that  he  did,  but  looking  at  her  all  grown  up,  Hades  didn't  wonder  about  any  of  that.  "Are  you  giving  me  the  royal  invitation,  little  shadow?"  The  gates  of  Hades  would  always  be  open  to  him,  but  where  did  Mal  call  home?

okay, wait, let me explain. you're not a bitter person, not by any means, but you don't...articulate your feelings very well. you hide behind all of the walls you built and you live inside a castle. bitterness is your defence mechanism. you don't want to be a bad person, you don't want to make people feel bad. and honey, you don't. we know. we know things are hard and trusting people is hard. we know you're trying your best and you don't need to be the nicest person in the world. you've just got to be true to yourself and try to be as good as you can be. and i know, sometimes, that doesn’t feel like enough. you don’t feel like you’re good. you’re not as kind and caring and lovely as some people. you’re sharp and tough sometimes. your life and your feelings aren’t all pretty and sugar sweet. that’s okay. they don’t need to be. the people in your life are there because they want to be. don’t ever think you’re a burden or that they’re only there because they feel like they have to be. they love you. and because of that, they’re in it for the long run. it’s going to be okay. you don’t need to be sugary sweet to be deserving of love.

"YOU  HAVEN'T  DONE  anything  that  would  change  that,  have  you?"  Uma  had  a  reputation  on  the  Isle  and  Hades  doubted  it  would  be  long  before  she  had  a  similar  one  in  Auradon  -  he  wasn't  stupid  enough  not  to  keep  an  eye  on  capable  people  that  were  around  him.  "If  you  were  just  a  messenger,  you  wouldn't  have  been  welcoming  so  easily.  Must  be  an  important  message  for  you  to  be  someone  else's  errand  girl."

"WELL,  WELL,  IF  it  isn't  my  favorite  Captain."  Hades  smirked  as  he  caught  sight  of  Uma,  giving  her  an  exaggerated  bow.  "Just  what  do  I  owe  the  pleasure  to?  I  assume  this  is  business  for  the  king  and  not  a  social  visit."  Although  just  what  King  Ben  would  want  with  him  that  he  couldn't  ask  directly  (Or  have  Mal  ask)  was  a  mystery  to  him.  Must  be  something  insulting  or  unpleasant.

"IF  YOU'RE  HERE  to  ask  a  favor,  at  least  bother  with  the  niceties  first."  Hades  informed  her,  reclining  back  in  his  chair  as  he  regarded  Alice.  While  he  might  have  been  mostly  left  alone  on  the  Isle,  now  that  the  barrier  was  down  and  it  was  more  widely  known  that  his  daughter  would  be  queen,  it  was  amazing  just  how  many  people  felt  the  need  to  talk  to  him,  forgetting  he  was  a  god  once  more.  "Have  a  seat  and  then  we'll  discuss  what  deal  you  want."
