       although evie is not someone uma would consider herself close to, she’s a welcome encounter compared to others on auradon grounds. maybe that’s why she targeted the seamstress’ shop above her usual hiding spaces. “ different kind, but i won’t stop you, ” uma answers with a tilt of her head, her arms spread out to invite the other girl & her long strip of measuring tape. it doesn’t sound terribly appealing having someone invading her personal space, but it’s a sacrifice that uma is willing to suffer through for the moment. an excuse to stay without explicitly asking for permission.

"Never   hurts   to   know   someone's   measurements   in   an   emergency,"   Evie   declared.   While   Evie   was   good   at   taking   in   someone's   measurements   from   a   look,   she   needed   her   tape   measurer   for   precise   numbers   and   who   knew   when   she'd   get   Uma   to   agree   to   standing   still   again?   "What   sort   of   a   different   kind,   if   you   don't   mind   me   asking?"   Evie   inquired,   looping   the   tape   around   Uma's   waist,   writing   them   down   in   purple   pen   on   the   notepad   she   kept   in   a   pocket   so   that   she   didn't   forget   any   of   them.   "Seems   like   giving   me   some   gossip   is   the   least   you   can   do   if   you're   taking   me   away   from   lunch."

𝙰𝚃 𝙵𝙸𝚁𝚂𝚃, 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙵𝙰𝙴 𝙸𝚂 𝙲𝙾𝙽𝚅𝙸𝙽𝙲𝙴𝙳 𝚃𝙷𝙰𝚃 𝚂𝙷𝙴'𝚂 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝚁𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝚃𝙷𝙸𝙽𝙶𝚂. it’s only when she takes a second look at the princess that she realises that she didn’t mishear her at all. ❛ why would you want to put yourself through something like that? ❜ mal isn’t judging her, not in the slightest. it’s more surprise than anything else, which is written all over her face. oh, how this part of the story has taken a turn.

"Maybe   I   want   to   do   something   different."   Despite   her   words,   Evie   frowned   and   twisted   a   strand   of   hair   around   her   finger   as   she   thought   about   it.   Roughing   it   wasn't   really   her   style,   so   she   didn't   blame   Mal   for   being   skeptical   at   the   idea   of   Evie   going   camping   or   backpacking   through   a   different   kingdom.   "I   know   I'm   smart,   but   it   feels   like   people   still   believe   that   I'm   not   capable   of   anything   that   doesn't   have   something   to   do   with   fashion   and   beauty."
