One thing I'm fed TF up with is these think pieces about Annie & this scene specifically, like she didn't matter to Smoke. Just be real, It's all because she was a dark skin, full figured figured woman & she could never be "desirable" to someone as attractive as Smoke aka MBJ.

So let me say this & dead this shit right here...

1. Annie was his WIFE, not a side piece, gf or friend with benefits...HIS WIFE.

2. Smoke came to Annie (in this scene), she didn't chase him down unlike another female character in this film *stares at audience reading this while sipping tea*

3. In this scene, she mentioned that she was NEVER leaving the Delta. In my mind, that made me believe that before Smoke left for 7 years, he asked her to come with him, BUT she more than likely didn't leave because she didn't wanna be caught up in his 'activities'. "Your money comes with blood" - She knew!! Also, no man in his right mind would willingly leave his wife behind if he loves her.

4. Everyone keeps talking about how Smoke asked Annie to cook for him & the only reason he said he loved her is because she said his name. Baby it's deeper than that, Smoke used her cooking for the party as an open door to come back in to her life OFFICIALLY after leaving her all those years. Annie said his real name to let him know "Hey, it's me you're talking to, I know the real you. You can be real/vulnerable with me" which HE did. He told her he loved and missed her.

5. The last thing I'll talk about is them making love. "She initiated it, he wouldn't have done it if she didn't." DUH, it's called permission, consent...you can't be gone for YEARS & just expect someone to accept you then be like let me get some cooch. He let her take the lead to confirm that they were all good. But y'all saw how he took control soon after & put her through the shack furniture. He LOVED him some ANNIE, cut the shit!!
