PAST ARENAS: 62ND ANNUAL HUNGER GAMES

The 62nd Annual Hunger Games were bathed in almost total darkness. When the tributes first entered the arena the moon was high in the sky, allowing them to see a wooded area that surrounded them, but as hours passed and the bloodbath ended the moon dipped below the horizon and made it horribly difficult to see. Without night vision glasses many had to hide out and wait until the moon circled around again, or build fires and carry flaming sticks around with them, before braving the unknown parts of the arena. Even after hours it was as though their eyes would never adjust to the darkness and tributes were constantly on edge for muttations that never seemed to appear. Those who built fires were easily hunted by the careers, a tough pack this year like many others. They hadn’t needed to build fires and signal their location because of the night vision glasses they found in the Cornucopia. This year was when Enobaria from District 2 was in the Games. She had volunteered, having trained years for her trip to the arena and eager to compete. Enobaria was a crowd favorite from the beginning due to her good looks and overwhelming coldness toward the other competitors. She was ruthless and cruel and when it came time for the career pack to disband after they’d killed everyone else she didn’t wait the full hour they’d agreed on before she started hunting them. Enobaria made it to the final two when her chances started to look grim. The girl from District 1 had her in a headlock and most people had no idea where things would go from there – that was when Enobaria turned her head and bit the throat of the girl, tearing it out and killing her. The final kill was so powerful and wildly popular in the Capitol that once Enobaria had her mouth redone so all of her teeth were sharpened into points and inlaid with gold. Even after her win Enobaria was ruthless and eager to return to the arena. (insp.)

district two has stronger victors; trained with careers in  masonry. cashmere’s known enobaria  for  a while; she  knows what  the  woman’s  like.  fierce doesn’t  begin to  describe her. cashmere moves quickly with her knife,  her goal to not get touched again.

          "I asked for a decent fight. Maybe I should've asked Brutus."

     There's something about even a friendly fight that throws her right back into the arena; makes her want to lunge forward and sink her teeth into the other's throat. She's getting better at separating the two scenarios -- she's only sent one trainer to the medical bay so far this year and even that was because the man was a fool; got arrogant and took his eyes off his trained opponent -- but she's got a stubborn streak that refuses to let her lose in a fight. She has enough respect for Cashmere that a loss will only send her sulking and fuming for a few days, but that's not to say she's prepared to go easy on her fellow Career. She's just playing for now; taunting; flashing her teeth in a half-threat that she's sure won't truly intimidate her opponent. It's all just part of the routine -- part of the fun.

only in the movie, and tbh everything in the movie can be taken with a grain of salt. i stick to what the books say for the careers. in the books, katniss says that 'she had her teeth altered' but as much as i love katniss, she knows absolutely nothing of the reality of victory/how panem works in general until mockingjay so she's not the best opinion to really take. but you can disagree with me. my opinions only affect what i do for enobaria. you can do whatever floats your boat with cashmere.

Though I have to wonder if she’s doing that to not stick out like a sore thumb, or because she is losing friends with this. because i think she and brutus volunteered to be in the games again. they were a bit excited.

i just find it generally hilarious that everyone else is miserable and she, brutus and finnick are just :D:D:D:D:D:D:D however i rambled so have a read more.

i have various headcanons about her psychological state in general and let's just say it's not exactly 'stable' so whether she volunteered or not, she doesn't generally give many fucks about it. she's programmed to kill so she will -- there's no choice in the matter so she might as well just do it and try to enjoy the rush of the fight. she doesn't give a flying fuck about the capitol so she's not overly upset about them losing victors or giving them a good show -- she behaves the way she's expected to in the capitol because it's what they're taught and she plays the game like all the rest, but she doesn't feel any love towards them whatsoever. she probably enjoys the element of giving them one last 'fuck you' because i don't think she really cares about coming out of the arena. she's every bit their slave to the point even her physical image is altered in a very capitol way. i don't believe that was her choice -- we see with katniss at the end of the 74th that it's the mentor's decision when the new victor is still unconscious, and i don't think a career mentor would say no to the newbie embracing capitol life. they're expected to, so she wakes up with fangs and essentially knows she has to deal with it, so she embraces it the way a good career should. and i think there's an element of her getting a little rush out of being seen as vicious and deadly, even if logically the fangs are actually blunt and just appear sharp -- she'd cut her own mouth if they were actually sharp; i don't believe they're any sharper than normal teeth.

i do think she'd be just as angry as any other victor about the quell, though. she's a good fighter so she stands a chance and she's programmed to not resist the system and to just do as she's told, so she'll go in and she'll fight and kill and try to win, but i think these are people she has bonded with whether she wanted to or not and breaking the rules a little bit by being rebellious with the other victors is probably something she's excited about, hence the grin. the way the careers are brought up is that this is all part of the show, so she'll show them that she's unified with her opponents right before she dives in and slaughters them, but i do think she's angry, and i do think she would enjoy that last 'fuck you' to the people watching. overall though i just despise the fact that collins contradicted herself with the victors and i hate how she herself seemed to write them off as villains. as if they wouldn't be angry about killing their friends. victors are an exclusive group -- only they understand what they've been through, and they have to kill each other. the careers would not jump in without an element of bitterness and they certainly wouldn't say no to a rebellion. whether they like the games or not (and i think enobaria doesn't really care -- they can continue and she'd give no fucks about it cause she's trained so whatever) they would still want to burn the capitol to the ground. the careers are the ones most likely to be sold. used. treated like slaves and dolls and puppets and pets. like i'm sorry collins and you wrote some good books but they would not be Team Snow. They're just as used and abused as precious snowflake Finnick and they'd be just as pissed about it. it's like the fandom forgets that beyond the programming and beyond the obedience, they are human. they're tortured. they're damaged. they would want their freedom.

Aura is slow to open her eyes from sedated sleep. Her hands gauzed up from the injuries she sustained during the arena. She looks to her side, and at her side she is surprised to see Enobaria, “I didn’t think I’d find you here.”

     She's not the most outwardly-caring of mentors, it's true. That being said, nobody can ever accuse Enobaria of not trying her hardest to guide every tribute through the Games. If they've got the strength to make it, it's then she's a little more willing to soften up the edges. Just slightly.

     It's a habit of hers now to sit at the bedside of every new Victor from Two during their recovery, and she does so now, nails tapping quickly against the arm of the chair in which she sits alert and ready for a fight. Sometimes, they wake up angry; afraid; thrashing and screaming in panic as they battle with imaginary mutts and opponents in their minds. She's there every time, ready to pin them down until harsh words break through the haze of fear and snap them out of the frantic state. This time isn't any different, except it's one of those rarer occasions where the mood is simply calm. Almost eerily still. Her hand freezes, hovering just above the chair's arm as she watches with held breath, just waiting for the snap... and this time, it doesn't come, so she can respond.

          "I'm mentor for District Two. It's my job to be here.            ---- How do you feel? Did they fix you up?"

We know SO little about her, so I'm always very interested to hear other people's thoughts on her, but there don't seem to be many people who give her much thought. I love that you made a blog for her, and I love to read what you think about her (and Careers in general)! As always, your writing is brilliant. You've captured her wonderfully. I know you're busy, but I hope to see more threads from you here soon!||

i could easily take on more threads here tbh. it's not so much me being busy as it is just... it's difficult getting threads? and i get it cause she's very minor of course but it fluctuates. i can have a week with a lot of interest and a week where i have one thread. but still i'll reblog memes and post the odd open and if people wanna jump on them they're welcome to. i enjoy her and it's nice to finally have time to be back on this account so i can be patient.

anyways... she's still kinda growing in my head. i come up with new thoughts and ideas for her pretty much every day but it's just working out the kinks and figuring out which are the best to go for. she's perhaps the most minor character i've ever had, so there's a lot of room to breathe but at the same time there's pressure to do it right. but she's precious to me and she's fun so that's good enough for me. it's nice to see people interested in her though. good. if you ever wanna discuss thoughts on her or the careers in general, come at me. i'd love to. i have a lot of thoughts and opinions. :') also thank you. i'm glad you like what i've done with her. :)

what are your ships for enobaria?

ooooh that's a rather tricky topic. i'm not sure. i had a few in mind but like... i'm so... ??? she's a very cold and detached person and for lack of a better word, she's practically insane, as well as being one of the victors sold in the capitol, so it's a little difficult. she'd aggressively refuse to attach to anyone. but i do believe she can. it has to be the right person and it has to be someone persistent enough to not take her bullshit and to see past the monster she tries to be. she believes she's a monster and she lives up to it, mostly because she's in the mindset of having nothing more that can be taken from her. i do believe, however, that she can have friends, and that those have the potential to grow into more deep connections with time and bonding. we'll see if any spring up, i suppose. at the end of the day she doesn't have to attach for things to be threaded. she's one of the 'capitol darlings' -- and before anyone gets at me about not every victor being sold, it's heavily hinted in the books that enobaria is. believe me, if anyone other than finnick and cashmere is sold, it's the other careers. so basically regardless of whether she /wants/ to be with someone or not, she'll be with whoever she's told to be with. we'd just have to thread it as an 'appointment'. in regards to genuine ships with emotional attachments and depth and development and what not... i guess if the other writer is up for exploring it, we'll see what happens. i won't approach anyone for a ship for a few various reasons. people are gonna have to approach me if they wanna explore the potential.

     She's almost too indifferent to that scrap of news to even respond, but ego wins out in the end -- of course she's right. It's not often she finds the time in recent years to assist her father in training up new recruits, but on occasion, she does. What better instructor can they have, after all, than a woman who has survived the arena? She knows first hand the expectations of a Victor and knows how often it is that the challenge of the arena causes skilled Career kids to throw their training out of the window. Who better to advise them than her? And it's what she's doing now -- watching them train; challenging their technique; giving the most promising a few moments of her time and a few personal pointers. Little point in wasting her time on any of the others.

     Lips threaten to twitch into a smirk as she side-eyes the young woman beside her. She's been repeating the action over and over again, expertly spinning a blade between her fingers before twisting it to pierce into the tabletop. There's no reason behind the action other than it almost being therapeutic to hold a weapon that in her hands will cause fatal damage. It almost helps her keep the rage in check --- that reassurance that one swift flick of her wrist could send the knife full-force into anyone who may pose a threat.

     She repeats the movement with intentionally increased force when she directs her gaze towards the unwelcome company in her presence, a flash of razor sharp fangs being the only driving force behind the grin she allows on her features.
