Aromia moschata, one of the most impressive beetles living here in germany imo, its been on my to-find list forever 🫶
Micropterix aruncella, the white-barred-gold. It's part of the only extant lepidoptetan lineage that still possesses mandibles instead of a proboscis, which is also why they can't feed on nectar, and instead eat pollen.
unfortunately, I didn't get a picture from the mandibles, it flew away when I tried x3
i haven't seen anything about this on my dashboard, so i wanted to share. ICE gestapo killed another human being on tuesday. he leaves behind three sons and his wife, who he has spent the last 35 years building a life with
there is a gofundme supported by the league of united latin american citizens set up to help with funeral costs, legal fees, and supporting his family moving forward.
please give if you can and share if you can't
Common Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni)
Robber Fly, Family Asilidae.

lots of butterflies I've found
@parchment-wasp-core saw this during my break and thought of u
most relatable post, just like ever I think, thank you tons!
Broad bodied chaser (Aeshna cyanea) and a blue hawker (Libellula depressa)
first skipper I've found
very big bug.. yea.. that's what it is
for some reason my perception/experience of wasps,
me -
a person who actively seeks them out, interacts with them on the daily, gets all up in their business, researches them
is continually deemed as less significant or trustworthy or accurate than the perception of a person who -
was stung one time and religiously avoided wasps ever since
you could be stung, once, twice, or even a hundred times.
it wouldn’t even come close to representing the nature of a taxonomic group that is comprised of hundreds of thousands of different species, and millions upon millions of individuals.
yet, you’d probably find, if you took the time to experience it. without fear, without hatred -
that wasps are gentle, curious, brilliant, beautiful, intelligent, indescribably valuable gems made of all the wonder the earth has to offer
animals who, like all others, want nothing more than to survive.
maybe even, if they’re lucky enough -
to live.
I'm entomologically evil. Im bad and I'ms bugs.
something i found while hiking
Saperda punctata, a longhorn beetle mostly living in southern europe. They are very rarely found in central europe aswell, like this one I found in germany.
One thing im uncomfortably woke about is bugs. And im actively trying to get more uncomfortably woke. By this i mean i DO believe the normalised fear of bugs stems from both government and business propaganda. The start of household pesticide sales coinciding with the boom in insect related horror movies. The promotion of anti intellectualism and anti enviromentalism. If you're scared of bugs, you wont care about saving them. If you dont care about saving them, you wont care about saving our home, since without bugs it cannot be saved. If you dont care about saving our home, the rich can do whatever they want with the chunks of it they continue to destroy.
I WILL calmly and kindly try to help anyone who is afraid of bugs. I will show them my finds, i will explain their importance, i will tell them just how sweet and gentle and friendly they are. And I WILL shoot down any immature loser who believes senseless killing is the only possible response to not liking something.
Get woke. Love bugs.
EDIT: this breached containment. My usual like count is like 5 😠i want to clarify i mean people who conflate fear with hate are the ones who wont care about saving our planet, like people who threaten to kill peoples pet bugs or actively kill bugs outside for no apparent reason. Not people who run away from a bee.
