intercepted houses in the chart

in certain natal charts, not all, we find that some signs have more than one house cusp, and that must mean some signs are devoid of house cusps. when a sign is completely encased in a house, it is called intercepted. it is always an axis of sister signs (e.g. if aries is intercepted, the other intercepted sign must be libra, if the 1st house is intercepted the 7th must also be intercepted). what this means is the energy, the lessons of these houses are closed off to you in a sense. it is not impossible to learn, but they are not innate to you, so serious learning and adjustment is needed.
1st and 7th houses are intercepted: knowing who you are and who you want in partnerships are not innate to you. asserting who you are, and in a sense understanding who you are take a much larger portion of your life to understand. you struggle to understand who you are and what you want; you may be egocentric and with all sincerity, not realize it, because you are just unaware of yourself. usually also do not really know what they want in a partner and often don’t really get into serious relationships until later in life.
2nd and 8th houses are intercepted: cultivating a strong sense of values and intimacy is not innate to you. this can indicate problems identifying a sense of self-worth, problems with money and handling your possession. your understanding of your society or culture may be warped or skewed, and struggles developing intimate, deep connections may be found here.
3rd and 9th houses are intercepted: primary and higher education, desire to learn and communicate, and the perception of your worldview is not innate to you. forming a distinct desire to learn and talk to/listen to others can be a particular challenge. higher-level learning can be a struggle either in the desire to attend or your motivation for staying. difficulty forming a need to branch out and talk and share beliefs.
4th and 10th houses are intercepted: understanding where you came from and where you want to go is not innate to you. some believe this can indicate self-fulfilling prophecy when it comes to problems with your family (4th) reappearing or happening to you in the workplace or with a boss (10th). more effort to understand the problems of your home may help your career/adult development.
5th and 11th houses are intercepted: blossoming your creative side and feeling supported and in control of your inner circles are not innate to you. depending on other factors, this can indicate a difficult childhood or one where you had to grow up quickly and not get in touch with your fun-loving, artistic side. may feel particular difficulty engaging in healthy friendships, not having a support system later in life and in career, and trouble letting loose and enjoying yourself.
6th and 12th houses are intercepted: handling your health and routines, as well as balancing your subconscious is not innate to you. can indicate health problems persistent in your life. daily life my be completely chaotic, lacking any routine or form of stability, completely unbeknownst to you, as you may not even recognize it is hectic. may not know how to ask for help, much less even want it in the first place. you may not see a need for routine or a traditional life, and have a subconscious that feels totally out of bounds, or you ignore it.
