October writing challenge
Prompt: Basement Character: Xillia
The dwarves tended to build their home down, and it was no exception for the home they had purchased on the outskirts of a small farming community on the western slopes of Khaz Modan, overlooking the Harbor to the north. Draenei were something of an oddity that took the locals a bit of time to get used to, but after a few years, they were a welcome family. A family that needed more space.
It had been a lengthy renovation, but the basement level was even bigger than the upper floor, where the bedrooms were. In addition to the additional shortage it afforded the quartet, they had all claimed workrooms. In Rhaala’s case, she had partitioned off a fighting pit, with punching bags and training dummies, as well as a small, naturally carved bath, siphoning off the local hot springs.
Ki’in had used up a little shelf space for his coffee machines, which he’d gathered quite a selection. There was a press, a steamer, and the more traditional setups. The rest of his room was a proper workspace for his archaelogy projects, trying to piece together what he brought in from his expeditions.
Arkav was always a practical sort, and having an indoor smithing area, his space also siphoned a bit of the spring water, to help him with his work as a water-smith, something a little more conducive to an indoor work space, steam being easier to vent than coal or wood smoke.
Xilly didn’t ask for much, just a little reading nook in the main area, a place to lay out and leisurely read. In truth, she had all the space she needed there was a portal to her quarters in the Mystic wards of Ironforge where she worked. But she would find herself drawn to come down and read when the others worked. It was nice to have the quiet company, to know they were near.
A far cry from the woman who was scared to leave her room, all those years ago.
