reading wilbran fics and then suddenly remembering yeah, no, Wil isn't some tiny lil bean, he's fucking buff, and in like half the fics I've read it almost seems to me like they get switched around---like take a look at Wilson, his confidence in being himself, and tell me to my face that he is a scrawny unpopular boy. take a look at Brando and his desperateness to fit in and tell me he isn't that one boy always trying to hang with the popular kids and never quite fitting in with them... idk that's just my headcanons and how I see them I guess :)

You can hear the soft footsteps coming closer as you scroll in bed, you look up to see Shane peering over the corner of the door frame, making you laugh
“Shane?” Shane takes a step inside the room, and you smile, “Hey, babe,” you mumble, putting your phone down
“I want to play you a song I finished today.” You smile, patting a spot on the bed as he slowly walks over to you
“What's wrong? You seem nervous. It’s gonna be amazing, babe,” you reassure him, making him smile lightly at you
“Thanks. It’s not that. This one is- it’s different,” you nod
“Ok, that’s fine. What makes it different?” you ask, rubbing his arm, trying to help him break out of his shell, he seems to be stuck in
“It’s more… personal, like about me,” he whispers, not looking at you, and you frown at his embarrassment
“Ok, are you sure you want me to listen to it? I’m not going to make you play it for” you say softly and Shane finally looks at you wide-eyed
“No, of course I want you to hear it, I want you to be the first to hear it.” He grabs his phone with a heavy sigh. “Just, don’t look at me, please.” You frown but nod. Anything to make him feel safe.
Once you put the headphones on and press the play button, you hear the soft melody and his background vocals.
As you hear the first verse, you can hear the sadness in his voice. Then, when you hear the chorus
I like you, but my body isn't ready
I want you, but the mirror won't let me
I try to be the person you're expecting
But I'm not ready, I'm not ready
You go to look at Shane, but he is looking at the wall, not even in your direction. You feel sadness take over you as you listen to this song about his insecurity
If I could crawl out of my own skin, would you let me in?If we could just be those kids again, maybe I could swim
You pause the song and take the headphones off
“Oh, Shane,” you mumble, setting the headphones down and sliding over to him on the bed. He still won’t look away from the wall, “Shane,” you whisper, grabbing his hand. He shakes his head
“Please. Don’t make it a big deal,” his eyes don’t move as the words escape him, but you can see the water pooling in them
“You know I love you, right?” Shane nods, and you sigh, “Can you please look at me?” you ask, rubbing your thumb over his hand. He nods slowly and finally turns to look at you. You smile sadly at him. The tears are starting to fall now, and he looks like he’s curled in on himself
“You’re perfect,” you mumble, kissing his face. Shane shakes his head, leaning into your neck
“I just don’t feel that way,” he sobs slightly into your neck, making your heart break. You run your hands up and down his back as he tries to steady his breathing. When he pulls away, you wipe his face, and he smiles softly
“Sorry,” he mumbles, and you shake your head
“Don’t apologize, you are allowed to have emotions, Shane.” he nods, playing with the hem of your shirt
“I just feel so- so stupid for having these feelings. I know it’s normal, but I just don’t feel normal”
“I know, what can I do to help?” you ask, and Shane shrugs, defeated
“I don’t know,” he mumbles, looking away from you
“Alright,” you sigh, trying to think, “Well, how about I talk, and you listen?” Shane nods, and you smile
“Alright,” you run your hands over his shoulder lightly, causing him to shudder a little
“You are perfect to me. I love everything about you, and even when you don’t feel good about yourself, you can always come to me. So, I’m going to tell you everything I love about you.” Shane laughs sadly, shaking his head
“You don’t have to do that, babe”
“I want to,” you mumble, and Shane looks at you
“Ok,” he nods and leans against you
“I love your smile, and I love the way that your voice gets an octave louder when you get excited. I love your hair when you first get up in the morning. I love how you talk to me like an equal. I love how you treat everyone with respect, even though some people don’t deserve your kindness. And I love how you put other people first, even though you shouldn’t.” Shane leans into you as you talk, his arms wrapping around your body. You can feel tears on your collarbone as you talk
“Shane?” You ask, patting his head as he looks up
“I love you too,” he mumbles, and you smile
“That’s not the point,” he shakes his head
“Don’t care. Thank you for being here for me”
“Always,” Shane leans back into your chest and lets out a deep sigh
“Let’s just stay like this for a while?” Shane suggests making you grin

Shane has always been in the bathroom when you do your nightly skin care. Most of the time, he is doing his own thing while you do yours. That is, until today, when he comes up to you right before your skincare time
“Babe,” he says with a grin, making you raise an eyebrow
“What did you do?” You say, putting your phone down in your lap
“Um, rude, I didn’t do anything,” Shane says, rolling his eyes and putting his hand up in front of him dramatically
“Then why did you walk in here all suspicious?”
“I had an idea,” Shane drags out, coming up closer to you
“That’s never good,” you mumble as he pulls you up from your spot on the couch
“We should make a TikTok during your skincare routine,” he suggests, making you squint at him
“What are you talking about?” Shane sighs, grabbing your shoulders
“You know… the ones where you have a face mask on or something and then the boyfriend ends up with one too,” he says with a bit of sass in his voice, as if you were supposed to know what he was thinking
“Right… ok, why?” Shane groans at your response
“Why not? It’d be fun, the people will love it, and I’ll get baby soft skin in the process.” You roll your eyes, but sigh in defeat
“Alright, diva, let’s go to the bathroom then.” Shane pumps his fist in the air in victory before following you to the bathroom
Once you both make it into the bathroom, you set up your phone and start to dig through your skincare supplies to find some face masks to do
“Cream or sheet masks?” You ask, and Shane’s eyes widen
“I didn’t know there were options,” you sigh
“There are always options,” Shane hums
“You pick,” Shane peers over your shoulder, watching you
“Will do the sheet masks, less mess,” Shane nods. He watches you put the mask on yourself before leaning off the counter
“Alright,” he says loudly, clapping his hands, before starting the video.
When the timer counts down, and the video starts recording, you mess with your face mask while Shane walks by, he stops behind you and turns to look at your face before poking your cheek and continuing to walk.
The video pauses, and you look at Shane
“Mask time,” you say, grabbing a blue packaged sheet mask
“I’m nervous, is it gonna be cold?” Shane asks, making you laugh
“Maybe a little,” you mumble, and he sighs
“I got this,” he mutters to himself, making you laugh. You open up the packaging and take out the sheet mask, and you slowly apply it to his face
“Why is it slimy?”
“That’s the moisture,” Shane groans, and you laugh. Once you finish putting the face mask on, Shane smiles and goes to sit on the bathtub seal
The video starts back up again with Shane slumped in the corner of the bathtub, a blue face mask on with a headband pushing his hair out of his face, while you are still close to the camera with a smile.
