Am I the only person who felt like Ben being the Supreme Leader meant nothing in this movie? It's like nothing changed for his character, despite him suddenly becoming the most powerful guy in the galaxy. Did they even mention that Snoke died? Shouldn't the entire ordeal with Snoke raise a ton of red flags within the First Order? Sowing seeds of distrust with their new leader?
He didn't even have a change in status. Pryde, yet another new and useless character, had more authority than him.
I really wanted to see Ben pull a Duke Orsino from Twelfth Night. I wanted to see him sit atop his throne, swallowed in self misery and unrequited love. I wanted to see him shirk off his duties, going to places like Mustafar to blow off steam, to see a scene where Hux bemoans Ben's wasting of time and resources. I wanted to see him burrow down into his characteristic angst in a way that was progressive to the character, and not regressive like in the movie. I wanted to see Hux circle a man at his lowest like the vulture he is.
They gave Adam nothing to work with in this movie, and that is such a shame.
