Leucism is a condition in which there is partial loss of pigmentation in an animal resulting in white, pale, or patchy coloration of the skin, hair, feathers, scales or cuticle, but not the eyes. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a reduction in multiple types of pigment, not just melanin.

Does anyone know if this rule holds true in every situation?

As far as I know, this does hold true in every situation. Albinism is a condition where the body produces no pigment at all, so the eyes would appear pink or red from the blood vessels of the retina showing through. Leucism, on the other hand, does not affect the pigmentation in the eyes, so they would appear normal. If anyone knows of any cases where this isn’t true, feel free to chime in.
