Decided to forgo the three-days-early rule for this one!

This was more or less a practice page/teaser for comics (so close to that goal!). Trying to figure out a consistent style that I like? This is, so far, just a light and regular mechanical pencil, in a larger sketchbook i had intended for comic drawing ages ago.

Lemme know what’s working, and what isn’t! Lemme know if any of the particular characters in this page are of interest!

A new open access study by leading scientists rebuts unfounded criticisms and reaffirms the need for effective outdoor cat control.

According to researchers, coordinated critics have mounted a “misinformation campaign designed to purposefully fabricate doubt regarding the harmful impacts of outdoor cats and stymie policies that would remove outdoor cats from the landscape.”

The conflict stems from a groundbreaking study published in 2013 by scientists from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. That study evaluated the combined impact of the tens of millions of outdoor cats in the United States. The authors found that roaming outdoor cats kill approximately 2.4 billion birds every year and are the leading source of direct, human-caused mortality to birds in the country. Similar results have since been confirmed in Canada and Australia.

To those of you still in denial about how bad outdoor cats are to wildlife not just in your own countries but globally here’s the cold hard scientific facts stating that you are apart of a movement of uneducated critics spreading misinformation.

I never thought I’d enjoy this so much that I’m still doing it for fun after almost a year now. For 2019 I’ll be looking for ways to turn this into a profession, but I still need practice and experience before I can take on big projects. Skaya rolled her eyes, grinning. “A little, yeah. Hop-a-lot. But there were Destroyer crablings sputtering around, so I held back with the snipers, so they could focus on their job. Anyway, everybody gets up into position, and right on the mark, our snipers let go. Beautiful, beautiful work. One puts a hole in Briemakk’s chest you could walk a dolyak through. He gets this big, stupid, surprised expression, and drops like a wet rag while his krew stands there gabbling like confused chickens. The other round puts a big ol’ dent in the Mark III’s chest. Buuuut, turns out it was one of their thermal-armored varients, too tough to go down to one shot, even with the armor-piercing rounds. It starts squawking about errors, and needing command input and rah rah rah… and all the while it’s turning back and forth, still holding Kinheet by one leg! And it’s swinging him out over the lava, then back over land, then back out…” The big woman grabbed a chunk of bread off the table and lurched to her feet, her chair toppling backwards, only to be caught by the Asura, who pushed it back upright again.

“Error, error!” she laughed, swinging her out-stretched arms, dangling the Kinheet bread dramatically. “All the while, poor Kinheet’s swaying back and forth, half unconscious by this point. So our pincer groups dive in, made mincemeat out of Briemakk’s little cluster of lackeys. And Fruxti here runs up to the golem and starts shouting every over-ride command he ever hacked, learned, knew, or pulled right of his ears, trying to get the busted-ass thing to come off the ledge and let Kinheet go, right?”

Fruxti nodded, spreading his arms apart. “And to be fair, I had a great many of them, most of high confidence and clear provenance, but that sniper shot had cracked the main controller casing, so it was mightily confused. But eventually!” He paused, and glanced up at the Norn with a grin. “It stops! Input accepted!”
