I was relistening to the kings men audiobook, as I often do, and one part I’ve always glossed over struck me today.
In the raven king, we see that Andrew reluctantly releases Kevin into Neil’s care because he has to go to rehab to get off his meds.
But in the King’s Men, when Andrew, Neil, & Kevin go to Georgia on the way back, Andrew asks Neil if he wants to drive with Kevin on the way back. It’s a really small moment and they’re both going to the same place so I’ve never really thought about it much before but this time it stuck out. this is a moment where we really see how much Andrew trusts Neil. Andrew would not have offered that to anybody else in the world.
Kevin promised Andrew to give him a reason to live. So when he puts Kevin in Neil’s hands he’s ~basically putting his entire will to live with him.
Maybe I’m grasping at straws, but I think this is just as big of a moment as Andrew giving Neil a key to his car. Neil doesn’t think of it that way but I think if the story was told from Andrew’s POV, we would probably focus on that more.
