within the warm embrace of your beloved, you start to feel the vibrant sun shine through the sheer curtains. small bits of your life start to flash as you come out of the dreamlike state. visions of repeated efforts to create something, anything, while you fail to make anything stick. this pit of discomfort with your own work has stayed stagnant for a few weeks now, and you begin to realize should've taken a day off a long time ago. the thought of your day off brings a breath of fresh air to the unsettling doubt. at the end of the day, they say that it's crazy to do the same thing everyday and expect different results, right?
the comfort guides you back into a light slumber, one that is altered once you feel kaeya's breaths behind you becoming more thick, almost as if.. he wishes to keep your scent embedded in his brain. you almost forgot the fact that it's his day off, too. you've wished for this day for a while now, maybe as long as your artistic fatigue has been present? you couldn't be sure. nonetheless, you realize that this day, this moment, must be as needed for you as for him.
"well good morning to you too, kae"
he hums, "good morning love"
you look back at him, now trying to avoid the vibrancy of the sun's rays, "i'd like to brush my teeth if you don't mind."
he almost contemplates, and you can feel a taunt coming.. "hm... i think i do."
you scoff, and move to grab the pillow from under you to hit him right in the face. once he loosens his grasp, you get up and walk to the bathroom.
"hey, what was that for?"
the breakfast you two share is you two cooking together! well,, if you consider kaeya following your every step and hugging your waist as him cooking.
"can you get off for 2 seconds? i need to concentrate."
"what for? you've made breakfast enough times, i'd consider you a natural."
"so maybe you should participate and learn."
he looks at you with a sad puppydog face "i thought my love would be treating me today..."
"oh please!"
as you both sit across from each other at the dining table, the food is enjoyed slowly. withput the extremes of either workplace, instinctually your bodies recognize the beauty of a silent morning. after a while he simply states, "i'd like to take you out later on today, the two of us having a day to ourselves is best spent with one another."
you look up at him, smiling "yeah, i agree."
after an hour or so of preparing the bowls of assorted fruits, cold drinks, a basket, and a long towel. to kaeya's perturb, you insist on walking the long way.
"wouldn't you love to take my horse?"
"that'll draw too much attention, love. i can hardly deal with you as is."
"well excuse me for trying to put my darling at ease."
you roll your eyes, but a smile creeps on your face. once you both walk outside, the ease of kaeya's interactions still shocks you sometimes. you know your lover is not adored by you, and it brings you joy that out of all the people that swoon over him, he chose you.
after the decently long stroll, you both decide on the land near springvale. the vibrant sun is dulling down to a warm haze against the pink sky. you finally settle down and relax your muscles, resting your head on the soft grass. as you look up at kaeya, the sun illuminates his blue hair. kaeya looks down at you, and gently smiles.
once the towel is set underneath the basket and drinks, you find comfort in the soft breeze of air that graces your hair, and the chirping of the birds in trees nearby. you look around feeling content.
kaeya looks over at you, "not bad, right?"
"not bad at all."
as you both delve into different fruits, kaeya's first choice has always been strawberries, although you focus on opening your orange. yeah it was not the cleanest fruit, but the acidity alongside the sweetness was always worth it to you. as you take a slice out and begin to chew, you see kaeya's favorite flowers, calla lillies, not too far away from your area. you wipe your hands on your pants and stand, walking towards them and picking as many in your walking distance. although he's told you only once, kaeya can't believe anyone would remember his favorite things. as always, you exceed his own expectations, showing him that love is about the little things. kaeya looks at you with an undeniable awe.
you sit behind him, laying all the lillies out as you take the existing ponytail out of his hair.
"sit still"
in these moments, kaeya does not talk much. maybe because talking has grown into a tool he uses with much precision, and with you, he now understands that there is no need for falsified formalities. he relaxes into your touch, fully allowing himself to just be present in the moment.
as you sit behind him to delicately part his hair, the notes of sandalwood and patchouli engulf your senses. you realize that the most important thing both of you could do today is fully ease into one another, gathering strength for the days to come.

: refreshing connections
the sky of mond has turned into a gorgeous cotton candy ombré. as it is the day of the windblume festival, the lights on land will soon overpower the colors of the sky. you are next to your 2 favorite people, one with that damned eye patch and the other with the silly mole under his eye. of course, you cherish both of them, you want to live in every second as you know the detective rarely gets the chance to travel.
it'll be a good idea, you thought, to introduce heizou and kaeya to one another. they have similar lines of work, similar personalities, and... not too far off ethnics? well, at the very least, you'd presume they'd enjoy each other more than "another tiresome case" or "another informant" as they have to fake smiles daily. you think their impressions of one another will shine through those daily encounters.
so after months of going back and forth with heizou through ink trying to convince him to come up to mondstat, you get a special letter:
"Dear Y/N,
I come to you with some exciting news. The Tenryou commission just got word of a new case in the central area of Mondstat. There are some Fatui on the loose, and I intend to stop them in their tracks. I'll be in town just in time for the Windblume festival. I suppose even fate decided that it had been far too long since we've seen each other. And knowing your love for Mondstat culture, I'm sure the festival will be as exciting as you claim. I expect to have a great tour guide for my trip, can't wait to see you there!

and so, your planning for heizou to have the best windblume festival ever begins! you decide that a general outline of the day will be most ideal because most intricate plans would not be accomplished. so, at the very least, heizou will get to have a general overview of the city, and you know you have to take him to the good hunter for his love of fried food. and the main star of the show, kaeya and heizou's meeting! first, you have to find a way to bribe kaeya into staying around heizou for the majority of the festival...
it is the first day of the windblume festival, and mond is more lively than before! you decided to be both comfortable but also fashionable today as you know walking will be your body's main focus today. you walk up to kaeya, exclaiming you'll be introducing kaeya to someone he has to meet!
"oh? i do hope they're almost as interesting as me."
if only he knew how alike they were.
heizou gets into town, and you and kaeya are conversing near the dandelion stand. heizou sneaks up behind you, "oh look here, i thought my beloved tour guide would be more observant of their surroundings." you almost jump as you turn around. you yell at him to 'not scare you like that!' before you both embrace each other in a big hug, and he announces his always correct assumptions. "it seems you have a shimmer in your eyes that is unrelated to the festival at hand. don't tell me.. do you have a surprise for me?" you nod, introducing him to meet the one and only calvary captain.
"heizou! i'd like for you to meet our calvary captain, kaeya alberich! kaeya, i'd like for you to meet a well-respected detective from the tenryou commission, shikanoin heizou!"
they acknowledged each other with a greeting and firm handshake. once they laid eyes on one another, they decided, "hey, i think this festival is going to be pretty interesting"
the captain willingly gives the detective a tour of all of the stands because who else would be the best candidate? he gives illustrative details and bits of history of all the stands. as you three walk around all of mondstat, of course, kaeya can't help his flirtatious nature, giving you and heizou sly jokes or words that are up for interpretation in between every explanation. the most excruciating thing about it? heizou goes along with it! their humor bounces off of each other, like two kids at a trampoline park. you pray you won't be a victim of BOTH of their teasing.
the night of mond has been filled with colorful laughter. you know that the two will have to focus on their duties coming tomorrow, and you wish to stay in this moment forever. throughout the day, the boys have teased you more and more. now it just seems they're at an all-time high. with kaeya's eloquent words and heizou's observant nature, you can barely get a break! it doesn't help that these two are very attractive men are going back and forth with you! you three end the day at good hunter, and you decide to get some delicious steak with sauce. after walking all day with overbearing excitement, you decide it's best to have something heavy that will calm you down. as you're eating, you realize it was never difficult to have kaeya and heizou converse. well, it was to be expected! you're glad you were the leverage to their communication. however, you are not glad that they are so flirtatious. kaeya notices a sploch of sauce on the side of your mouth. while you are engrossed in eating, kaeya gently brushes the sauce off of your mouth. it takes you a moment to realize what had happened, but once you do, they both have those stupid grins that light up their whole face. kaeya almost looks shocked, but you know it's only for his bit.
"something wrong, sweetheart? i was only trying to help–"
"shut up, i'm sick of you two."

1. Reader is thin, ok. But lately kaeya notices they've been looking thinner, he hears them commenting how their clothes seem to get larger, and even see some people commenting that they look like they lost weight. He even notices he have been seeing them getting lightheaded a lot more when they get up from anywhere, always stopping for a few seconds after getting up from a chair, only to start walking again as if nothing happened. I wonder how he would react to this, and how he would deal with this situation
2. Well, we all know kaeya is a flirt, and probably a womanizer. I wonder how it would be if he actually fell in love with someone who's asexual. How would the reader tell him, fearing that'll make him give up on them, like so many others, since they don't even like being kissed on the lips. Would the sexless and kissless relationship be ok with the cavalry captain, or would he leave the reader bc that's not really something he can live with? Some angsty dunno

that has been your views on love ever since you were young. the average progressions of love for you never exactly included a first kiss.. let alone intimacy. due to this, finding someone who will treat your preferences with delicacy is important.
and since it's already been on your heart.. the worst thing kaeya could do right now is make such an advance...
you and kaeya have been dating for a month now! of course he's incredible, but you're not blind to his.. reputation. everyone in mondstadt knows that man has a multitude of one night stands. and for the last few weeks, you've been trying to find a way to explain your views on sexual matters to him. much to your dismay... there's just never been a good time. you suppose that there might not ever be one, but the least you can do for yourself is not make your boundaries seem meaningless, or awkward. that, is until this VERY moment that you've found yourself in!?
and.. he does it anyway. he leans in to kiss your cheek. ugh.. kaeya's kiss is slow and meticulous, but the feelings of affection get lost in translation. you freeze, and your face morphs into discomfort. as kaeya pulls back, he seems stung and confused. now, normally, when kaeya teases a woman, there's a look of flusteredness and awe in their eyes. not exactly a look of disgust. kaeya blinks a few times in order to process the situation he's in. then he asks if he did something wrong in a soft, apologetic tone.
since this interaction has opened a door that can no longer be hidden, you sit him down to explain what you've needed to get off of your chest...
you begin to explain to him your asexuality, noting that, yes, even kissing makes you feel uncomfortable.
at first, he is shocked. he listens to you inventively, weighing your words and the discomfort he has caused you. he apologizes honestly and promises to take your boundaries into account next time.
now that you guys have parted ways for the night, kaeya feels an overwhelming guilt in his body. he made you uncomfortable, and he's subconsciously thought that the relationship between you two would evolve into more intimate interactions.. kaeya now has to face his own assumptions and correct them.
it'll take a moment, but i'm sure kaeya will adjust to your preferences. this'll help kaeya to appreciate the little things about you. as time goes on, you and kaeya's love will blossom, and it shows both of your willingness and devotion to one another.

you've decided to dip your toes into the freedom of mondstadt, and to both of your surprises, you've met the love of your life.
in somewhere like mondstat where the queer scene is... little to none, i think you and kaeya would immediately bond simply due to the circumstances. we all gravitate to the people we most relate to. and OBVIOUSLY, it's good to befriend the only queer person in the room! this leads to a plethora of inside jokes that would be the foundation of your relationship.
for a second, we BOTH shall ignore genshin's.. odd ways. because i searched up mond's time period, and it's heavily based on medieval/16-17th century germany. in those times, fatness was seen as beautiful and natural. being fat meant you were able to get proper nutrition. so i'm sure kaeya really enjoys your plumpness, definitely one of his favorite things about you! i SWEAR when he sees you bare and changing into clothes for the first time he'll be staring in awe. until you snap him out of the daze, of course. he'd be embarrassed for sure, but he definitely won't deny his admiration. as you question him, he mumbles something about you looking divine with a tint of redness on his cheeks.
i feel like you guys can easily clock each other's tea.. if one of you is going through something like dysphoria the other will notice so easily (because the other has similar struggles) it'll get both of you to open up more since it's hard to hide the unspoken. i think it'd especially be an issue for our calvary captain...
(kae reminds me of mc bunnies or cats, your affection with him has to be subtle but also effective, anything too strong will scare him away 😭)
i think his proposal will most importantly take time. kaeya would be dammed if he messed up his relationship with someone so incredible. esp considering his rocky relationship with diluc. to be rejected in a non romantic setting from anyone he doesn't care about is one thing, but to be rejected from someone who understands him so well for a SECOND time is a completely different and *unbearable* scenario. i truly don't even think the hanahaki disease could compare to the pain he'd feel 😭 just the thought of it stresses him out, so for the first year or so of your relationship with kaeya marriage isn't even considered, or at least he pretends he's not considering it.
at a certain time in your relationship, every interaction kaeya has with you has his brain yelling at him to marry you.. so he secretly gets to planning the PERFECT day for you two! kaeya is the most perceptive person you know, so i doubt he'd be asking you obvious questions about what you'd enjoy.. unless he's teasing you. then he'd ask you questions with double meanings to "test the waters." this planning and questioning cycle would continue for months on end.
he'd treat you to everything you enjoy! i think he'd be against one of those "public proposals" since he wants the day just to be for you two (TOTALLY NOT PROTECTING). but the day would be nothing short of glorious. gifting you the items you've been adoring for FOREVER, taking you out on a walk to the prettiest sights of mond, going to your favorite restaurant, etc! after the delightful day, when the sun is welcoming the moon to the sky as it's filled with tones of pinks and purples, kaeya takes you to the outskirts of mondstadt. he proposes to you with a ring with your birth stone :((( now you understand why he's been acting so nervous lately!
