THE OUTSIDERS 🠶 BOOK TO FILM, CHAPTER BY CHAPTER
CHAPTER ONE (BONUS) TRIVIA: Originally, Francis Ford Coppola had a different vision for the opening scene. This one follows the book more closely, and is narrated by C. Thomas Howell, who played Ponyboy Curtis. In this, it shows Socs harassing Ponyboy and showing the neighborhood in order of showing Dallas leaving jail, the Socs harassing Darry who’s working construction, Soda and Sandy at the DX, showing them tracking Ponyboy again, harassing Johnny as his mother chases him out of the house and beats him only for Two-Bit to tell her to leave him alone and to help Johnny. It then ends with the Socs tracking down Ponyboy, leading to them assaulting him.
The scene was cut and was released on the 2005 Blu-Ray Release of the movie and included as a deleted scene on the 4K 2021 Restoration.
I love rumble fish but it's confusing af, one of the main themes is obviously the fish since they're the only coloured part of the entire film. And the fish will kill each other if they're in the same tank, which is a metaphor but I don't know exactly what for since there's constant conflict in the film. Is it a metaphor for rusty james internal conflict? or his brother and the cop? And then there's the part where his brother's reputation just meant nothing, that's the main takeaway I got from it. That reputation is pointless and RJ realised that as he grew up.
Like i kinda understand that? i just feel like there's something I'm missing that ties everything together. or maybe im thinking too much about it. Im gonna give the book another shot cuz its been years since i read it and maybe it'll clear things up for me
anyone else not understand the plot to Rumble Fish to this day 😳?
Rumble Fish- (1983)
Dir. by Francis Ford Coppola
i feel like the gang stays @ the curtis house a lot… and because of that, i think two-bit enjoys having an audience.
i’ve decided that every day when darry comes home, two-bit jumps him. full on jumps on top of him, usually yellin’ some kind of crazy war cry. darry just throws him off onto the couch (thankfully), and even though it’s stupid, they do it every day as a kind of routine, because it makes johnny smile.

I can't imagine Dallas Winston being a blonde. Matt Dillon was the perfect choice for Dallas.

everyone shut up we’re having an outsiders summer
The gang as when you hold up your hand for a high five as they walk by
Ponyboy: Gives you a high five
Darry: Gives you a weird look but high five
Johnny: High fives enthusiastically
Steve: Ignores you
Soda: Gives you a high five from Steve
Two-Bit: Starts leading you in an elaborate secret handshake
Dally: Grabs your wrist and hits you in the face with your hand
