If you are antiship or antific then you should logically also condemn the glorification of violence and murder in fiction.
Violence appears constantly across all kinds of fiction. It's used as a plot device. it's often celebrated with cool stylised weapons and heroic framing. It's hard to find a game without some of this. Yet, most barely question this.
Murder is arguably one of the worst things you can do to another person, but fiction treats It far more casually than any sexual or suggestive content. Games very routinely feature fantasy/glorified violence and killing and only receive mild ratings. Meanwhile, even legal and consensual sexual or suggestive content almost always pushes media into a teen or mature rating. Why is that the case?
We have been conditioned to view sex as inherently negative or shameful. I believe this mindset tracks back largely to the near universal influence of abrahamic religion on morals and ethics. Even people who are non religious still live in cultures shaped by these traditions. These include taboos such as forbidding homosexual acts, shaming women, and labelling harmless sexual behaviour as immoral.
At the same time, these religions contain stories where violence is treated as a tool or valid pathway, even sometimes divinely sanctioned or carried out by God. Despite commandments existing against killing, narratives such as with the israelites include entire groups being slaughtered for the benefit of others. This framing has influenced how society views violence at its core: its seen as honorable, necessary, brave. Even though killing is an atrocious act.
As a result, we've built a culture where fictional violence can be shown and glorified with very little objection. But sexual acts regardless of context, are heavily restricted or stigmatised.
Now, of course, the acts many take issue with being shown are ones that are nonconsensual and that would be harmful in real contexts. And though I understand the concern, I do believe that even this is better than glorifying murder. Nonconsensual acts limit and ignore freedom; murder takes it away from the equation entirely.
Do I personally either should be censored? No. I believe it is the responsibility and right of the consumer to differentiate between what is right in fiction and then reality. It is not the authors fault what others do with their work.
But if you even if disagree with me on that. You should still remain logically consistent. Either condemn both in fiction or neither. Otherwise, you are likely only acting based on your cultural biases.
