Also I’m bringing back this fic to remind y’all that, for at LEAST two seasons and probably more, El did not understand what kissing was or its correlation to relationships.

I’m fully a Mike apologist but I’m fully aware that Mike is a terrible communicator especially with El. I believe that she wasn’t fully aware of what her relationship was with Mike even in S3.

I’m not saying Byler wouldn’t impact El, but the arguments of “home wrecker” and “breaking up the relationship they spent five seasons building” seem like surface level viewpoints considering said relationship has been a lack of communication, arguments, and breakups.

TLDR: as long as El still has Mike as a friend, she never needed him as a boyfriend. They were quite possibly the same in her mind with her limited knowledge.
