hiii. i read shadows kept alive four years ago and absolutely loved it. then this past winter i read anger management and kept up with it closely as it came out (i checked every day for updates 🥺). i saw your most recent fic on the new fics page for ffxiv and recognized vahl's name, so i went to look at your page and only just then realized that both shadows kept alive AND anger management was you. so i figured it's probably time for me to say thanks and tell you how much i adore your work. i even ended up basing a dnd character loosely off of vahl, lol. your writing is fantastic and I hope you keep it up! lots of love xx

💫 what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?

the ones where someone copies a sentence, or a paragraph, even a snippet, and then explains why it stood out to them. sometimes it’s a snippet that I’m particularly proud of, other times it’s something that catches me completely off-guard. whether it’s a compliment, critique, or a deep-dive into whatever, it gives me something specific to look at and go “that worked, how to do that again” or “that didn’t work, what went wrong?”

it's silly, and it shouldn't matter, but c'est la vie. to curb some of the insecurity (or, really, to avoid thinking about it as best I can) I'm using a site skin that hides hits, kudos, bookmarks, etc. nothing to be insecure about if I can't see it anyway!

double pulling on tank!hades in ktisis is so funny to me. like. here’s hades who has been sent on a mission that involves socializing and his emotional support extrovert bf he brought along keeps trolling him (don’t know what he expected) and then he finds out everyone he knows is fated to die horrible deaths and he’ll be left all alone to go insane and evil and commit atrocities and ultimately fail

plus he has venat looking over his shoulder like a critical mother-in-law and the guy he was sent there to interview is trying to unleash his death bird on the universe. things could be going better

and then some idiot kid who’s possibly the soul descendant of his other troll bestie is running across ktisis with a pack of feral couerl chasing them like hewwo mr selch help me pwease! he is so Tired

director's cut ask! did you have the "BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!" scene planned out before you got to the conversation with Lyna in SKA, or did that scene make you go back and think about how that conversation went? :D Unapologetically still my favorite scene in SKA and TSooP, and I have a LONG COMMENT coming for the latter!!!

It actually came about thanks to people's comments and DMs! I had so many requests for Vahl's PoV after Mt Gulg that I started playing around with snippets for what he would've said and done, without really knowing what I'd use them for. The conversation with Lyna originally didn't mention Vahl at all, but I started editing it after writing Vahl's PoV and went hey...this could go that way instead of this way...so I added in everything about her realising G'raha and Vahl were a thing, and voila haha

And: long comment!! Ahh! Your comments are some of the absolute best!

If you’re still answering these, for the director’s cut: hardest (or most annoying) part to write in SKA? (Or easiest, if you’d rather not say!)

gosh. where to start.

hardest part BY FAR was post-Calamity Ishgard. not only imagining what it would look like under Imperial occupation, but describing a land-and-air battle while navigating through it with a slog of characters in tow? I love writing combat and usually jump at the chance to do a fight scene, but I rewrote those two chapters so many times. bit off a little more than I normally chew with that one.

easiest? G'raha's walk up Mt. Gulg. I overuse flashbacks in my writing so I told myself no flashbacks in Shadows Kept Alive...unless I reached Mt Gulg.
