Rotomolder tutorial 2019!!! A whole half year in the making, take a look and let me know what you think!!
Updated the Square site with new pictures and layout. It’s great that they offer an avenue to sell my wares.
The mothership has arrived! It’s dropping ROTOMOs hard and fast!

Updates for November!!
Finally updating pictures across the social media verse! Still lots of work to do but at least progress is being made!
Getting ready for the holidays! Assembling some pics for updating the site and that social media life. It’s good to let folks know what you’ve been up to and lately I’ve been shipping rotomolders!
Happy Thanksgiving All!!
Modified for automation! Tinius Saul Industries motorizing the Rotomolder for production and added material capability. I see some collaboration happening!
Stacks and stacks of gears!!! Ran through red and started on the ORANGE filament. Quality PLA and super quick shipment coming from Matterhackers. Great site with lots of 3D printing/AM supplies. Might have to get one of those E3D hotends!
Nice fit! The gears and timing belt work great!!! I feel much better about this setup than with the flat belt. Time to print up some more!
Stack’em and rack’em!!! Made up a stencil with Mach1monkey so folks know where they came from. Gotta do it while it’s dry out.
Building the finalized timing gears on my trusty CR-10S! Red PLA for filament. It’s larger build envelope gives you a really big bang for your buck. There’s some fine tuning involved but once it’s dialed in it can be pretty reliable.
MOAR testing, fitting, and printing. I’ve got some silicone mold and resin casting going as well. All part of trying to get the gears more reliable and utilize as much of the wood stock as possible.
The timing belt arrived! It’s tough to try to source these locally. Time to keep testing gear fitment.
Testing out different gear to belt ratios and fittings. Man, this is science all to itself!

After a bit of a hiatus, I’m getting back to updating the Rotomolder. The belt worked on the first iterations but I was concerned about slipping and stretching over time so I’m choosing to go the timing belt route.
I recently built my own rotomolder, a device that lets you make hollow parts like the hollow chocolate bunnies that they make every easter. It rotates...
Instructable up!

The ROMO is a flatpack rotomolder. With this kit you will be able to make your very own custom hollow parts. Think hollow chocolate easter bunnies. The way this happens is by pouring a liquid resin into the cavity of a mold. Once you seal the mold it is then rotated 360deg in two different directions until the resin is set. Once cured you open your mold and you have in your hands your hollow part. Hand built by me* in my workshop in Seattle, Wa. The ROMO is NC routed out of a single 2'x2' sheet of plywood. It comes complete with all components ready to be assembled. It uses 608 bearings to reduce wear on the points of rotation and the ROMO can be easily modified to attach a motor for resins that require longer rotation times. A 17"x17" envelope gives you the capacity to rotomold larger parts and/or molds with more than one part. The ROMO easily mounts to the edge of a table by using two clamps on each leg. Molds can be made using- Silicone Fiberglass Resin Vac formed plastic rapid prototyping Aluminium + many more *Some assembly required
