âTry something?â she repeated as blue eyes stared at him in confusion. Her hands tighten for a moment as she wondered what he was going on about? Wasnât he going to? But when he didnât say he wouldnât take her dream.           âH-Huh, do you remember mean it?â There was some obvious excitement in her voice. Was it because she said that she would remember him. I-It only seem right, she was capable of such. âA-Are you sure?â
"You can remember them as you like." This would truly be quite interesting. To have the cycle repeat all over again, how interesting would that be? It seemed as though the outcome was already clear --- she would simply lose her soul to the cold purgatory she had also fallen into.
But of course, what fun would it be to simply let things go through that way?"If you insist. we can try this out." His lips twisted, just the smallest bit. "We'll see how many steps to death you can take."
{ ââ } âItâs the most wonderful time of the year, whereâs your spirit?â He was only happy because Lucas was. After all, it was his favourite holiday besides Easter.
Happy people, happy dreams. Would this be his 376th Christmas? "My holiday spirit? Well, I would say I lost it, but you can't lose something you never had.
âȘCome to Bethlehem and see Christ whoâs birth the angels sing; come adore on bended knee, Christ the Lord, the newborn kingâȘ
{ ââ } Donât mind him, just belting out his favourite Christmas carol on the streets. Worth a shot, isnât it?
Oh. It was a nice dream. Dammit. Oh well, he'll be able to deal--- "Is it that time of the year again?" Time for yet another Christmas.
Kanade knows such wishes and hopes were true for a monster. If there was just one person, just one, who would remember. The vileness wouldnât plague the heart and mind, the pain would be there still but dulled.
âThen like you, Iâll be forgotten in due time.â Immortality had its own cons that worked against her. âThen take what you wish from me.â Whatever dream; however, she she hesitate. âIf there is a chance, I can remember you. Then I will somehow. So you can, at least, have someone too.â
Remembrance. Was that all it took? He had tried it before, and had failed miserably. But those days, he had been naive. He had made mistakes, and he had learned from them. "Well, then." He met her gaze. "Why don't we try something, then?"
This could be oh, so interesting. And he didn't particularly have anything to lose besides a meal. "I won't take your dream."
Pearly whites offered a brighter grin than the one portrayed earlier, seemingly triggered by the mention of something that remained in her best interests. Hands on hips, a light chuckle passed glossed lips. âHey, heroes donât necessarily have to be the butt-kicking, cape-wearing macho men and women, right? For all we know, you couldâve been a hero in someoneâs eyes after assisting them with something small â thatâs what I love about manga heroes. The smallest notions make the biggest differences.â Swoon. âYou should totally try reading a few. Itâs certainly one hell of an effective past time.â Distraction was another appropriate term, but one the optimist remained silent about.
With a hum of acknowledgement, lids arrived at a close. âThat so, huhâŠ? Manâmustâve been hard parting from nice places. You must have a tough job, huh â what do you do, if you donât mind me asking.â A pause. ââand, and if you also donât mindâŠtelling me your name?â
Was it really a tough job? He had never thought of the difficulty of his job, as he had been doing it without any other sort of passtime to help him wait until oblivion. Well, of course, it had been easy before he had met her, but this seemed to be the wrong place to think of her. She was long gone, far from his grasp. She had left decades ago, which may have been why it still felt like a fresh pain.
Name? Names were always the first step to intimacy of any sorts. That much Rei knew, despite his general lack of actual interaction with humans. "Should I give you my name?" He sighed. He had been born without a name, and given a name by a woman who eventually left him all alone --- of course, that had been her intent all along. "Why don't we be a little creative and give each other pseudonyms?"
His eyes fluttering open now as his virid eyes focused on the figure. Oh, this one was different. A dream eater. It was just how his presence felt, the god became serious. âHm, I suppose not; however, even someone like me needs rest.â He was always awake. In his sleep. But like living things, even someone of his power needed rest. Even if it was for a minute, it was enough for him. âI used enough power as it is to give the living dreams,â he said with a large yawn.
Dreams. The word seemed to roll off the tongue quite nicely, although for Rei, it had quite the opposite effect. So this was the creator of dreams, eh? "If you have any power left over, mind feeding me?" This technically counted as cheating, but who was there to enforce regulations, anyways? The dull hunger had been making his stomach feel as if it was deteriorating slowly, and a meal would certainly be quite pleasant.
â âOh I water them whenever I can.â On numerous occasions she had been told that she didnât need to. There were plenty of workers in the household to take care of the task for her. However she liked to. It was relaxing and she adored being surrounded by beautiful flowers.Â
Her hand cupped the delicate petals she she became quiet. The nagging question of why he had chose to visit her arose in her mind. Not anyone could just waltz into her dreams after all. He wasnât a dreamwalker so that had to mean he was a dreameater. It was almost hard to believe since he had been so lovely. She bit down on her lip as her soft doe eyes stared up at him. âWhy are you here?â
Why was he there? It was a question with an answer that none would have believed, one that would seem to be absurd, at best. And to this girl, whom the story would have been centered around, most certainly would not believe him. But what did it really matter? She would forget this night, and the next night too. The cycle would repeat forever, until his heart was either completely satisfied or drained empty. He avoided her gaze, adjusting his scarf.
He tried to change the subject, pretending not to hear the question, although it had been absolutely clear that he had. They had looked directly into each other's eyes, after all. "Did it rain earlier? It's quite humid, isn't it?Â

Until December 1st! I have a lot of work to catch up and I'm setting up another blog. You can find me here.
â That it was. Dreams hadnât really given it much thought when she chose a name for herself. In the forest she called home in Germany there were an abundance of rosemary plans. She remembered being incredibly fond of the scent so when she learned what they were called she chose to make it her name. Even now she was unaware how much it suited her. By nature she was a healer. Her very purpose was to lessen pain by providing a place for people as they slept; a safe place. In an sense she helped just as much as the herb.Â
Looking up Rosemary smiled as she noted his contemplation. Not wanting to interrupt him she remained quiet until he responded. âI think they are really pretty. There is nothing I love more than waking up to the smell of flowers.â When she finished their sentence they had arrived at the garden. Her hand departed from his as she ran straight to the roses. âAre they just the most magnificent thing youâve ever seen?â
"Mm." He agreed quietly. The moment seemed so still, with not even the late autumn air stirring a breeze. Despite the calmness of the environment, Rei felt as if his insides were twisting, turning within himself. However, this wouldn't be something he would show externally. He had to be patient, simply appreciate the fact that he was seeing her again without having to pay a price. Yes, he had to be happy with this and just this.
"Do you take care of the flowers often?" It certainly seemed as if she did, considering the vibrant life they emanated. And the warmth that she gave off was something he could sense from the plants as well.Â

The god was preoccupied with other things when he felt the otherâs prescene. The deity of dreams would twirl on his heels to stare them, âNo.â No, what? His expression a little less drowsy as he stared someone who was associated to them, or the closet they could be. The Prince would whine now, âI was just going to go to sleep again. What is it?â
Oh? This one was quite different, wasn't he? He wasn't asleep, yet he could clearly see and sense Rei's presence. How curious - finally, something interesting was happening. THe dream eater was meeting the god of dreams - how electrifying. Of course, he didn't recognize the other man as such. "There's no harm in taking some time to actually be up and awake, is there?"
"Boo."
{ ⣠} â "So do I. You humans are deplorable."
"Oh no. Not you again."
"I believe in hate at first sight."

The guy didnât responde and his heart began to beat faster, clueless of what to do. Darius gave a couple short steps forward, approaching the stranger in a slow pace to at least try to pull him awaâ âAH!â He screamed in surprise and ran toward the edge once he saw the man letting himself fall. His heart stopped for a second and he nearly began to cry in that very spot, immediately turning around and running downstairs towardâ what he thought wasâ the dead body.
Rei fell down onto the ground hard, but still landing on his feet. He had fallen from so many imaginary cliffs, buildings, and even animals, that such a stunt hardly required any thought. Of course, even if he had landed on his face, broken six ribs and suffered a bad fracture, he wouldn't have felt a thing. He brushed off his overcoat and fit his hat back on his head properly, waiting for his playmate to arrive.
â âExactly so Iâm afraid you have no choice.â She chirped happily while hopping out of bed. Her excitement got the best of her and she nearly left the room before remembering that it was dark. It would be cold outside. While she could easily manipulate both the weather and time she didnât want to. From her closet she pulled out a light jacket. She turned to him and saw that his clothing was warm enough. So she slid on her jacket and motioned for him to join her.  Â
When he came close enough she took his hand and laced her fingers with his. Idly she swung their hands back and forth until it slowly came to a stop. The feeling was familiar yet again she couldnât pinpoint why. Her eyes ran over him again as if she was searching for the answer to the feeling welling up inside of her but again she was left with nothing. Aside from these small feelings now and again, she really could not recognize him. Â
As he began to lead her she smiled again and put those silly thoughts of her aside. She hadnât seen him before and that was that. âIts the most beautiful garden youâll ever see.â Or at least that was how she remembered it to be. While it had been a stunning sight she had idealized it over the years so it had become even more ornate. âDo you like flowers Rei?â
The moment their palms touched, Rei felt a little shock of electricity pass through his fingertips into his heart. There was a wave of overwhelming feelings - nostalgia, perhaps? The way their hands had met in the ocean felt almost the same way, although the feelings behind this interaction were a little more restrained, held back. Of course, that was completely understandable, considering that he was a complete stranger to her at the moment. Yet it felt so familiar, so comforting nonetheless, and he showed no sign of resistance with this gesture.
Do you like flowers? The question brought his attention back to the present, to the moment. Her eyes were sparkling up at him, expectant of some sort of answer. Flowers. All he could think of was rosemary - a herb with a sweet scent, the one that Ophelia claimed clung to memories in an everlasting manner. Crowned with dainty little flowers, wasn't that the healing herb? "Yes." He finally replied, his voice distant. "I do." And he would protect this flower that he held so gently in his hands. He wouldn't let it wilt.Â

Hurried footsteps were heard as the boy approached this stranger standing right on the edge of that rooftop, what was he even thinking? Of course, the naiveness of Darius always got the best of him and from a first glance from the street, it seemed like one of those⊠You know, those who were about to jump and after witnessing it, he wouldnât be able to sleep at night not knowing what happened to that person. Therefore, there was him, after running up the stairs, slightly gasping for air. âHey! Hey man, câmon, donât do itâ I mean, Iâm sure you have things to live forââ And so he kept on rambling with words stumbling against each other whilst trying to come out of his throat. How naive, Darius, how naive.
Rei didn't bother looking back. There was no real point in trying to build some sort of compassionate relationship with this stranger - Rei would be erased from his memories anyways. The intention was clear in the dreamer's voice. Oh, Rei would have jumped if he could. Or rather, he would have if he could die from it. He would give this boy a little shock. Spreading his arms out, he silently let his feels raise up as he began to fall. He would make this dream a little more tasteful.
