Dear self,
Today I wrote a friend and said I would be taking the time to apologize to you for all of your regrets. I’m sorry if I don’t get them all.
I’m sorry for all of the stupid choices that you’ve made, and I’m sorry that you haven’t learned from them as well as you could have. I’m sorry that you didn’t take yourself or your life very seriously for such a long time.
I’m sorry that the pitfalls I created for you emotionally and mentally drove you into a corner and forced your hand in attempted self murder. You really didn’t deserve that, and I’m sorry for the baggage that you and others knowingly and unknowingly carry.
I’m sorry that you never gave your all to loving yourself or others. I’m sorry that the list of them is long and heavy in your heart. If you need to, please feel free to apologize to them, but I want you to accept this from me and forgive yourself first. Please do.
I hope that you can come to some measure of success in this system that you can be proud of. I hope that you find peace and purpose whether the world is fine or whether everything collapses around us all.
I’m so sorry. You’ve been stuck with me for ever, and I’ve never really been able to say so many things to you that you deserve. I’m sorry. I love you, and I’m so proud of you. You’re getting better even if you seldom feel it. I’m so glad you’re still here with me.
Thank you.
