It’s a plant!
I dunno who this girl is, but I really love her!! She’s a 7th grader. Name ideas?
Sometimes, getting out of bed is monumental enough of an achievement lol
Do you have any advice on drawing in the lok style
Hi! :D I’m still trying to figure it out myself, but I guess the biggest thing I can recommend is just looking at how they draw eyes - that’s honestly 60% of it! And you can also look at screenshots and try to copy to movements and how they abridge body shapes (like how Korra’s biceps/shoulders have very specific lines to indicate where her muscles are) Also you can google some of the concept art to see the clothing styles and stuff! Fanart from other folks is also a good idea to get inspiration!
I was working on character turnarounds, getting proportions right, etc. and I definitely needed a break from all that work >_< it definitely isn’t easy! I appreciate animators work waaaay more now. So! Here’s a random character I doodled for fun to loosen up today. I wonder what she’s carrying and why she looks so worried about it!
Project I did for my Indigenous Literature class - an illustration of characters up til page 180 of Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King. I just illustrated the characters as I imagined them. ^_^
Quick painting I did of a forest tonight. At first it was dark and scary, but it slowly turned happy and golden after I talked about some angst with my big sister lol
I’m getting my first shawl!! I’m super excited. I think I’ll be getting this design, but I gotta see if it’s even possible to sew all this xD Front: Medicine Wheel with four eagle feathers (obvious symbolism) and a Compass Rose / Sun / Star in the center of the wheel. The Loopies are actually a symbol from my tribe representing the four directions. We are said to have come from the water also, so it’s neat that it looks like a wave. There are 6 intersections of swirliness and seven stars (not including compass one). Back: The moon protected by two swirlies! Also ten feathers that represent drops of moonlit rain and prayers. Overall, the design is basically representing the duality of everything- Sun, Moon, Day, Night, Male, Female, Sky, Earth. It also represents the seasons, the cycle of life and death, etc. via the medicine wheel.
Taking a break from Genji stuff and playing around with some character concepts :D This is Nokatoho, a half Quapaw half Osage boy living in an alternate universe where Europeans never conquered North / Middle / South America. His name means “Blueback” and he is from the Thunderbeing clan. The antlers are used as a spear and as a bow.
(Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, yes, I'm Native American - I’m Osage, Seneca, Choctaw, and Quapaw. Yes, I DO understand the power of stereotypes, mythologizing Native peoples, appropriation etc. And yes, I’m using my culture as inspiration for a fantasy/adventure story. If this upsets you, I don’t mind having a conversation, but keep it respectful plz <3 )
Fun drawing exercise! Make a random shape and try to fill it with a face!
My mom’s coworker is having her second child, and her daughter is a little nervous about getting a new baby brother. So we wrote her a little book! My mom wrote the text, and I drew the pics. :)
Hello all! Unfortunately final exams are upon me, so I didn’t have time to paint backgrounds etc. this weekend. I.E. no update this Sunday. Sorry folks! I’ll be able to get you all one or two pages this coming Sunday though! And then on May 15 I am FREE for a few months, so I’ll update regularly! :) Thanks for the patience! My GPA is kind of important to me, so I can’t really afford to do poorly on these tests. In the meantime though, I’ll be able to do small sketches throughout the week, and I’ll work on going through questions (there are hundreds, so if I don’t get to yours quickly sorry~). And I’ll share some other artwork I have lying around.
A sketch to loosen up! :D
