The problem with giving yourself, your heart, to someone was there was never a chance of ever getting it back. A mark on his arm might have pledged his loyalty to another - to a cause which was the antithesis of her but he would always belong to her. Belong with her. And despite everything, she would always belong to him. Belong with him.

"We could run away."

It enters the night air before she can process. She is not a coward. She loves her friends and her family and can not imagine life without them. But the feeling she has for Alexander Mulciber is so much bigger than anything Mary has ever experienced, in this instance running away does not feel so cowardly. Star-crossed lovers is another romantic notion that most girls lament over not having, Mary always finds herself biting her tongue at the thought of Romeo and Juliet. You could fall in love with someone you were not supposed to but that love did not need to leave a wake of dead bodies. They can run away. (x)

This weekend, my boyfriend took me to meet his parents. They adored me. I told you that most parents do, remember? He has a good job, he loves animals and my friends, and he always walks me right to my door to make sure I’m safe. He’s a good man. He treats me like everyone says I deserve. 

Today, he told me he loved me. And it’s all your fault that I had to pretend not to hear him. 

Tomorrow, I have to break up with him and that is also all your fault. He’s too good of a man to lie to. 

I will love you and only you forever, Alex. I just wish I didn’t have to.

“Do you love me, Alex?”

He tears his attention away from the doors, heart suddenly pounding in his chest. He didn’t think they’d ever get to this point. Didn’t think she’d ever want something as dark as his love. She has him already; his heart, his love. But the words get caught in his throat. Because if he says them aloud it will be his undoing.

“You know I do,” he answers, finally. Maybe it’s not exactly what she wants to hear but it’s close enough. So she hides her face against his neck and he does the same against hers.

And the lights of Muggle London flicker and die in the distance.
