“Cloak” by Jordan Rakei [Album Review]

Can’t say I give many shits about Tumblr these days, but I’m happy to spam people with a music recommendation... And that recommendation is debut album “Cloak”, by London-based New Zealand musician, songwriter and producer, Jordan Rakei.  There are albums and songs that come along that capture me completely, and I listen to them continually and exclusively until I’ve exhausted their effect on me. That sounds kinda weird, but I listen ‘til I’ve had my fill. And for music that resonates deeply with me, it’ll be weeks and weeks... And this album is one of those. And I was fortunate enough to have this album with me when I spent time at The Grampians in June. So some of that music is locked into the landscape through my memories. The variety of styles of tracks is wonderful, and I love them all. Listening from track one through to the end really is a wonderful journey in moods and genres... There’s something fucking fantastic in each and every track, for me. What a bloody creative masterpiece. And a brilliant voice. And such great songs. 

Well done, Jordan. You’re a fucking legend.
