I feel like my self-care goes pretty well when I treat myself like I would treat a child. (Did Brittany get enough to eat? Make sure she gets to bed on time. If she's cranky, put on this music she likes. Make sure to pack a snack, just in case!) It's all about bringing more gentleness into the things I expect from myself and making sure I get what I need.
I've heard of people who approach their self-care by imagining they're a rare animal in a zoo, or a beloved pet, or an expensive system that needs regular maintenance. Whatever metaphor makes you care for yourself in the way you deserve!

The planters on the last two blocks of the Spring Street bike lane in Midtown are very nice.
I walked the full length of the lane one day this week on my lunch. I didn't actually see any cyclists using it (just one scooter rider) and I'm guessing that's because there are currently not many other lanes that connect to it.
On that southern end where the planters are, it disappears into a fairly inhospitable section of Spring Street, without even a traffic light to help cyclists make a safe turn to the left.
I get that piecemeal bike lanes are part of the system. It's the same way in most cities. Eventually we'll have a better network with solid connectivity (fingers crossed).
Question to cyclists: do you feel like Atlanta is at least moving in the right direction with providing safer routes on streets?
