In today's state of hyperactivity, where boredom is not allowed to emerge, we never reach the state of deep mental relaxation. The information society is an age of heightened mental tension, because the essence of information is surprise and the stimulus it provides. The tsunami of information means that our perceptual apparatus is permanently stimulated. It can no longer enter into contemplation. The tsunami of information fragments our attention. It prevents the contemplative lingering that is essential to narrating and careful listening . . . In the process of digitalization, . . . information acquires an altogether different status. Reality itself takes on the form of information and data. For the most part, we perceive reality in terms of information or through the lens of information. Information is an idea—that is, a re-representation. When reality takes the form of information, the immediate experience of presence withers. When digitalization gives everything the form of information, reality is flattened.

I still love this website so much because it feels like the last connection we have to an internet that doesn’t exist anymore like I can come on here and scroll through posts that are literally just funny or beautiful or interesting with no intention to sell me something or influence me we are all just here for a laugh. Nothing is just for laughs anymore EXCEPT tumblr dot com

the beautiful thing about aging is there are so many versions of your life, so many things you thought you would never get over, so many funny and absolutely heart breaking things that you not only get over but just sort of forget about
The older I get, the more I realize being in a hurry is a terrible way to live your life.
getting approached by an animal that wants you to pet them is such a magical feeling. like they saw you and went "yeah there's love in there"
(three decades into my life) sorry I wasn’t paying attention, can we start again?
feeling like an academic flop will have you randomly thinking shit like You’ve Betrayed And Destroyed Yourself For Nothing and it’s like Ok girl tone it down it’s not that serious
bro shutup im trying to remember what i just said
