rambling thoughts about changeling and sonar i guess but

I don’t imagine Sonar or Changeling ever request that they change forms or whatever. Actually, I don’t think they would ever outwardly mention or point out their oddities.

I know people like to play into Sonar’s bat stuff (it’s a guilty pleasure for me too), but the way he behaves to me kind of suggests the opposite. It seems like him being part bat is a weak spot for him, like a liability he jumps to make fun at before anyone else can. Someone else mentioned this but being able to turn into a giant bat at random doesn’t really bode well with his dreams of being a corporate kinda guy. He only really seems fine with being in his Mega Bat form when it’s actually useful to his goals of being an intimidating and destructive criminal when he’s in the Red Ring.

As for Changeling, he doesn’t really like being other people if he can help it. He’ll transform for a joke or whatever and if he needs to do his job, but the thought of having to be someone else, especially a non-human like an animal, brings him back to a really negative headspace if he’s having to act for too long. Changeling likes having his own identity, and being someone else reminds him of when he didn’t have that luxury.

I think Sonar would pick up really quick on the fact that Changeling constantly both plays into the shapeshifting bit for self-depreciating jokes and when he gets flustered over small things like his spotty knowledge. The same would go for Changeling noticing Sonar’s self-depreciating behavior and his defensiveness over the things he’s actually passionate about because they can see themselves in one another.

As follows, Sonar and Changeling don’t mention each other’s “weak points” if they can help it. If one or the other makes a joke about it, they just laugh it off and treat it as normal. Their powers are just something that happens to be there, and it doesn’t play a big part in their conversations.

Regarding Sonar being kind of a sex pest, I imagine he would like the idea of Changeling being able to shapeshift in bed, but he knows being forward about it would make Changeling uncomfortable.

Changeling just uses his regular form in bed and doesn’t actually have a preference for what form Sonar uses. He secretly likes Sonar’s longer tongue because he’s freaky like that but he never really mentions anything about it being unusually long. It is what it is.

Also Changeling mainly uses female downstairs equipment because he’s paranoid about a cheap shot. One friendly fire from Punch-Up on a mission and never again. Sonar doesn’t care what Changeling uses because he’s down for whatever.
