There is going to be a major revamp of the characters (including the addition of a few more, and the changing of some powers) and the plot I have in mind! The writing in here is really not my best and I've been working behind the scenes on fixing things up. I want to start from the beginning, but with new stuff afterwards! Hopefully it'll be more cohesive and coherent, since I actually have an idea of where I want this to go. That being said I am basically going to delete this blog and remake it! I will give the URL here before I delete and everything will be moved over there. Please bear with my not here-ness for a while longer, school is still a thing before I get the ball rolling again. Shikha and Titus come from a pirate ship that used to sail the seas around Victubia. They weren’t into causing too much trouble, actually. They often went head to head with other pirates, and occasionally trading ships.
Shikha was sister to the captain for the longest time. He was a water and wind user-which was ever so appropriate-and Shi’s biggest role model. She respected him and looked up to him even more than their parents, who had passed away mysteriously when her brother had graduated from Victubia Academy. He took all the money his parents had and moved it to a secret spot and took to the seas. He assigned Titus to watch over her at the academy while she was attending it. Something was wrong, and Shikha was kept from it until she joined her brother on the ship.
Later on her brother was killed in a face off between a recurring enemy pirate ship. Another attack happened a few months afterwards when Shi was captaining, and even though she had gotten them as strong as she could - and best believe she established her presence on the seas, even getting a few more ships to join her group - she could only jump from ship to ship so much until she feared putting her allies and closest crews lives in danger, since the attacks were getting more frequent. She quieted down her activity, and left her ships for land to hide, keeping tabs on them from afar. Titus joined her once again as her bodyguard, as per her brother’s whishes.
When she met Viv again, it was by complete accident, but Viv took her in and offered her a job. She took it along with Titus, and works now at the shop, at the cafe.

Titus originally came from a small village, but his family moved up north to Victubia to try and give him a better life. While his mother and father worked hard, Titus went to school and learned and learned, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he’d actually given himself magic out of sheer will. But it turned out his family had them, mostly on his mother’s side of the family. And there he was. He intimidated a lot of people at the academy, and in general. It was a lucky thing that the people his parents worked for had a son they let him hang out with, otherwise Titus would’ve likely not talked to anyone at all.
He met the son’s parents in private, and agreed to keep an eye on him as per their orders. When they died, he and the son had graduated and hid the money in a secret spot. And he became the first mate on the ship the son ‘commandeered.’
He knows all concerning the family, and when the sister came on board, he agreed with the son that he would keep an eye on her, as per the son’s orders.
The rest is history.

The river wasn’t very far, and Vivienne helped Vince over to it - he’d made a cane for himself, but she insisted - still complaining about the fact that he’d healed her without even letting her know beforehand. And look at him now, there was no way she could do this without passing out and what on earth was he thinking, and really how far away is this river this is seriously ridiculous she went to it literally five minutes ago human form is such bull.
Vince let her have this moment, he didn’t mind her complaining because, well, since he’d healed her he could still hear it.
He didn’t tell her that part, though.
When they finally made it to the river he could hear the relief in her voice, which had followed the most exaggerated sigh Vince had ever heard.
“Okay, finally. I didn’t realize how far it was with two legs and carrying someone. Sweet gosh that was too far.” She helped him over to a rock and sat him down in front of it, setting up a small bowl and bringing water over to it with a flick of her wrist.
“It was the same distance, you just didn’t get to chase butterflies while you went looking for it.” Vince leaned back on the rock, watching as she got out fresh gauze, cotton pads, and the rest of the small bottle of iodine they had brought with them.
“The butterflies helped me find the river. Maybe that was why I felt so lost.” she rolled her eyes, “But now we’ve got to plan exactly where to go.”
Vince opened his mouth-
“And yes that means you can make a compass now thank you very much.” she couldn’t help but fold her arms and smirk at him.
“Reading my mind again? You sure you don’t have some kind of undocumented magic?” Vince rolled his eyes, making a base out of wood, then taking a piece of metal out of the pouch on his hip.
“I knew someone with Vox magic actually...dunno what happened to them but I know they covered it up with fire a lot of the time.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t get them to work the shop while we’re gone.”
Vivienne looked like she’d just had a revelation, “Man! If I had remembered them I totally would have!”
Vince laughed, looking at his makeshift compass and making a motion, “Okay, so if we go far enough north we should reach the sea, and be able to see something from there. Maybe we’ll even reach a city.”
“Oh my gosh, don’t get my hopes up too much now.” she gasped and fanned herself with a hand, “And yes I’ll let you use your cane this time.”
“What, am I no longer a princess? Did I get too heavy?”
“You passed too heavy a while ago, I’m afraid our relationship just carried too much for me.” she said melodramatically as she started walking in the direction Vince had motioned to.
The pun passed Vince over at first, and he looked a bit upset before he groaned, following after her, “Oh my gosh...well that doesn’t lift my spirits in the least.”
Vivienne giggled as she waited for him to catch up, walking alongside him, “I’m afraid I have no more...kind of flat for that category of pun." she looked ahead, “This is gonna be so much walking.’
“You know if you turn into a cat I can carry you right?”
Hmm... maybe a story about how Vince discovered his magic? :D
Oh man, I’m sorry this isn’t a very happy story Gabbi ;w;
His entire family was very no nonsense, and that includedmagic. They tended to look at magic as something that was freakish, despite thefact they were nobles that were surrounded by it every day. Outside in Victubiait was ever present. Even the servants had magic that they would use sometimesto help things like the garden, or keep the fire in check. But his family wouldalways ignore those things and go on about how they were proud their childrenseemed normal enough. Maybe it was so they could leave somewhere, or have aselling point about their pure blood blah blah blah.
So Vince grew up thinking magic was this odd thing, nearakin to a curse, that people would have depending on how they grew up. Hethought he was safe, given that as far as he knew none of his family had everbeen magic users.
But as a child he couldn't help but find it fascinating whenthe caretakers would play little games with him when his parents weren't home,how they would make little toys or objects with a bright red hue, or barriersin hot pink. It was even better when they felt free to use their elemental magic.His favourite were the gardeners using wood and green magic. Mostly because heloved all kinds of plants and life, and always wanted to know more about thecare that he could give the plants, even when they weren't around.
In secret he pretended to have all the powers he could wishfor, doing odd forms to what he thought would be the best water magic skill, orlightning magic. When he was young those were his favourites. They alwaysseemed so free and fun to use.
Things changed as he got older.
His parents realized what was going on and all the magicusers were banned from coming in contact or using magic around Vince. A strict,non magic nanny was set to watch him day and night and would always make himstop when he used to go on and on about how amazing it used to be when the oldnanny would put on light shows for him. The new nanny would say that magicwasn't befitting for a noble like him.
He started to hide his fascination, his happiness, and othergeneral things about himself. His parents said he couldn't afford to be sochildish. The lack of childishness began being bored into him around 15. Just ayear before it all happened.
When he was turning 16 a lot of things began to happen. Hestarted caring for the garden a lot more. One of the workers he liked noticedthat the plants would always respond to him, and even when he didn't notice, hecould get the branches to grow down to him. He was taught in private about hispowers concerning this, and this one made him more happy than scared. He couldfinally properly do what he'd always loved, and keeping it hidden from hisparents wouldn't be too hard. They just thought he was finding interest inmedicine, and that wasn't completely wrong.
He found peace in helping the plants grow, and manipulatingthe wood into designs he liked. Spending time with this gardener. It was hislittle bubble where he could be who he wanted to be and he escaped it as oftenas he could.
But then his parents had found him a girl they thought wouldbe good for him, and had begun to arrange a marriage without his knowledge. Bynow Vince knew well enough to keep his true interests behind closed doors. Theynever seemed to notice how his gaze would pause on that young gardener, or theother sons of nobles that would come over and try to be friends with him. Andthey had definitely never noticed that he hardly ever flirted, especially withgirls his own age. He liked them, but he just didn't like them in the way hisparents wanted.
So when they tried to talk him up, get him interested inthis girl they had found for him, he tried to ask for more time, he didn't wantto be trapped in something he didn't want. It had been happening for too longand he didn't want to be forced into a life he didn't make for himself.
And when his parents wouldn't listen his frustration got thebest of him.
All the silverware on the table melted into puddles when heyelled out that he didn't want to marry anyone.
His parents were speechless. At the statement, yes. But moreat the fact that the metal had turned into puddles on the table cloth.Everything was very silent for a second, and Vince felt his blood run cold whenhe noticed the fork in his hand was now dripping through his fingers.
The rest of the night went by in a manner he'd rather notremember. But his parents knew everything by the end of it.
He found himself on the steps of Victubia Magi Academy nottoo soon after. In fact, that was the fastest he'd ever seen his parents movein concerns to him since they got rid of nearly all the magic users. It hadbarely taken them a week to arrange for his leaving, and then a day to tell himto pack up his things because he'd be leaving the next morning.
It was a fact that he didn't have to hide his magic anymore.But he still felt like he was being watched for it. Like he would be judged forusing it despite the fact he was in a setting where pretty much everyone had itand used it. And it wasn't only that anymore. His parents told him he may beaccepted for his magic now, but the other thing...well it'd be harder for thatto be accepted, apparently.
For now, he just looked up the steps of the school,grandiose and intimidating to him, and thinking about what exactly it was hewould do now....
"Hey! Hey! You've been standing there for pretty muchever!" Came a loud voice, causing him to focus back into the present. Infront of him stood a girl with bright eyes and wild hair, grinning at him,"I know this place is pretty sick but it's much better when you see itfrom the inside! I promise."
He only looked her up and down for the moment. Her style wasso wild and colorful. Nothing at all like what he was used to seeing. Did herparents let her go out like that?
"Dude! Orientation is starting soon! Come on!" Thegirl seemed to bounce down the steps to him, rocking back and forth on herfeet, "Is it 'cuz you don't know me? Well here you go, name's Viv! Shortfor Vivienne! And you are?" She held out a hand to him.
He didn't know it yet. But she would become someoneimportant, despite how grating he thought her to be right now. But, for themoment and out of mutual politeness he shook her hand, "Vince. VinceSalamance."
"Well Vince, welcome to the Magi Academy! Now come on,orientation's probably already started!"
Vivienne came to with Vince holding on a bit too tight to her, as if he was afraid to let her go. And she was holding back just as hard. She couldn't remember when she blacked out, but it was somewhere around the time the dragon thought it would be a good idea to do a 'barrel roll' as it were.
Viv had been the first to fall off, not holding on to the dragon itself but rather Vince. She had lost her grip on his shirt and hence her grip on her only anchor to the dragon. Wind rushing past her ears as her heart nearly burst out of her chest, a terrified scream making her throat near raw. She had blacked out just as she had heard Vince yell out her name.
She groaned, she felt like she looked like hell right now, but looking at herself she noticed that she was all healed, despite the scratches on her body and through her clothes. She guessed that Vince had put all his energy into healing her up. Since she didn't know how long they'd been lying there, she couldn't yell at him for taking all that time and energy to heal her up. Well, she could yell about the energy for the healing part at least.
While she wasn't very good at this, green magic being her third best, she healed up what she could, getting tired near the end and having to stop on a slightly bigger cut. Damn it.
Then, looking around - with a small groan since her neck hurt - she noticed that they were in a small, woven wooden nest in between two branches...on a tree. Little pink particles from her own effort floated through the air.
So that's why they hadn't completely splatted on the ground. For that she thankfully hugged Vince a little tighter.
Maybe she wouldn't yell at him for healing her up.
But she now had no idea where they were. She did her best to move around without waking Vince, who had probably passed out and was recovering his energy-he had used far more than she had after all. Despite the more cushy fall they had managed to get, her entire body still hurt as she moved, turning to study her surroundings.
They had very obviously landed in a forest, but she didn't really know if it was up on the north of the island, or to the south. It was quiet for a few seconds, making her think it may have been the one she'd seen on the edges of the fields when they had gone, but the sudden chatter of birds in a tree nearby broke that idea. The forest that was at the edge of the field was always eerily silent, for a forest of course.
She sat, looking around the forest for any kind of sign of human life besides them, and she couldn't see a thing except for long grass, saplings, and quite a few fallen leaves. With the sunlight filtering through the trees it was a very initially picturesque area. If not for the fact they had just fallen from the back of a dragon.
She was also certain there were insects in there and she didn't very much like the idea of that.
How much food did they have? Vince still had the straps of his pack visible around his shoulders, so they at least had food for the next few days. And she had some antiseptic and bandages in her own pack. She would actually have to use those when they were on the ground and she could bandage him up properly.
They would be good if they couldn't find anything and had to ration the food. But water...She could get water somehow. But the air would be very very dry. And what direction should they even go?
With a small sigh she laid back down completely on the little nest hammock they were in, gently shaking Vince, "Hey...wake up you big idiot. I have some words I need to have with you."
He didn't move at first, and Viv was terrified that he had used too much of his energy to save them and heal her, but when he moved with a small groan that fear became instant relief.
She still punched him in the shoulder, though.
"You dumbass! I told you not to heal me unless I was awake for that kind of thing! I'm not even that good at it so I can't do it back to you very well! Not only were you running out of energy because of all your cuts but you still made us this and healed me! What the hell, I thought you had died!"
"It's nice to see you living too...." he grumbled, shifting himself with a small hiss, "Damn...."
"Damn is damn right! Next time we check the caves!" she sighed, "Now, we're in a forest obviously. Above the ground which was a very good choice if I'm honest. But we don't know where we are and like hell I'm letting you make a compass before I've bandaged you up." she paused to take a small breath, "What's in your pack."
"Food mostly...we were near a river when we were the mountains so I knew that you would be able to do something if we needed it, but now I don't know. And since you won't let me make a compass right now we're kind of screwed now aren't we?"
"Oh hush your face. You'll be able to use it tomorrow when I know you've got enough energy and won't wear yourself out doing it."
"You know, it's not like it takes a lot. Not as much as any green or red magic."
"Still takes energy! Just like this talking we're doing."
"Does that mean you want me to shut up?" Vince asked incredulously, dramatically resting his head on his hand and batting his eyelashes.
Vivienned rolled her eyes and pushed his face so it landed on the little pile of leaves beneath his head, "More like change it so we can talk about what to do once we get down from here."
"Well, if you're so keen on healing me up, why don't we get down now so we can properly sit and not get poked by all these errant branches?"
"Hey, you're the one that made this thing, not me."
With a small smirk, the net began to lower them slowly to the ground and Vince seemed to ignore the glare that Vivienne was giving him. She hopped out first, landing on the soft ground, Vince following, and stumbling a little on the dismount.
"See?" was all Viv said, and Vince put a finger to her lips.
"Shh, just do your thing and we can get back up there and plan before it gets too dark." He shrugged and sat down on a nearby rock with a sigh, "This is cutting into my holiday time you know."
Vivienne let out an exasperated sigh of her own as she walked over to him, taking the antiseptic and other supplies out, "You'll get some extra days off, I promise."
