Tennis was often on in the background for me growing up but it was Wimbledon 2001, when I was 8, that I first fell in love with it. Goran Ivanišević became the first and so far only person to win Wimbledon as a wild card and even if I didn’t 100% know what that meant at the time, I could tell by how invested my family were that this was special. It was a tennis fairytale, something that had never been done before and no one expected. It was exhilarating. Today we saw Arthur Fery become the second wild card to make the semi finals at Wimbledon, 25 years after Goran did it. He may not make the final, he may not win, but he came in as 114th in the world and just won a quarter final match against a top 10 player in straight sets, including a 6-0 final set which is rare at that level of the tournament. And he is such a joy to watch. I really hope there are little 8 year olds who find a sport they love through Fery’s under dog story and his enthusiasm for the game just like I once did.

I am not buying into the negativity around Look Mum No Computer and Eins, Zwei, Drei. It is exactly what a Eurovision song should be.

If you don't appreciate it yet you all just need to blast it and jump around singing it and you'll see it in a whole new perspective.
