@maddjudaiyuki
god im bored
madd:
Tfw you have violent, angsty daydreams where your favorite paras get hurt and/or die (and you make yourself upset, sometimes to the point of crying)
me to myself whenever i say iâm going to try to do my homework and stop daydreaming
Has anyone else heard of the psychological trick to visualise your ideal future or to imagine your idealized self to trick your brain into thinking you are actually like that? So what makes me wonder is, that a lot of maddreamers already have their idealized parame, so why doesnât it work for us? Why donât we become that person when we dream about it everyday for hours?
I feel like it's bc of the nature of the daydreams
Parames are idealized selves but in a fantasy world w/o limitations. Your parame doesnt have to be human. They could have super powers. They could look completely different from you. There's no limits to how you can imagine yourself with Madd and the daydreams are escapist in nature where (at least for some) youre not using the daydreams to change yourself so much as its to cope regularly. Daydreams are also focused on the world around the parame which can change to focus around them and make them more idealized.
Where as using that psychological trick there are realistic limitations and youre creating an ideal self as a goal rather than comfort. Obviously the focus here is on creating a version of yourself that you could potentially become and using it as sort of a goal to achieve so it's not as "perfect" and infalliable as a parame would be. Its also you're consciously trying to change yourself and probably putting in effort into it beyond the visualization whether you realize it or not You also cannot change the world around your idealized self to encompass that and make it achievable rather than changing the paracosm to better fit your parame.
I hope this kinda makes sense!
Hey whatâs up you guys, welcome back to another episode of scrambling to do homework Sunday night because I spent the weekend daydreaming
Me: maybeâŚwe could try to rejoin realityâŚpay attention to whatâs actually happening?
My brain:
it be like that sometimes
i donât âmake charactersâ, i break myself into pieces and then give the pieces names
Brain: Time to daydream
Me: Why?
Brain: We need to cope!
Me: But Iâm okay
Brain: We need to cope!
Me: ??? No, we donât
Brain: We need to cope.

When your paracosm is based in a fictional universe and the series is over so you donât have to worry about fitting new canon into your daydreams:
